Thank you! Vectorizing / Upscaling is necessary if you are using ai images. If you create designs yourself at a large scale or use high quality premade graphics, then vectorizing is not necessary

AMAZING! It changes quite a bit the style or the artwork but it is extremely useful. For the output settings, do you have any suggestions for best print quality and flexibility? There are so many options to choose from....thank you again!

Good question! It's a fairly new addition so I don't know the best settings. However I have found that changing "Shape Stacking" to the bottom option helps with making the vector more easy to edit in Illustrator

@@PhilipAnders Good to know, thank you! This tool is extremely useful, a lifesaver in a matter of seconds. The only downside is that for some artworks it changes the original style quite a bit (even if they are not pictures/photographs). I have been trying to figure out how to enlarge an AI artwork for POD, even for posters, while maintaining its original style. I used Topaz Gigapixel but, unfortunately, it's not as sharp and smooth as your Vectorized tool. Have you find any alternatives for a more faithful rendering while upscaling? Do you have a workflow for that situation? Thank you again!🤗

Hi Philip. I've been having some issues with my svg's for a couple a days now after vectorizing them in Vectorizer. In a set for example, when I create different svg for every objects in illustrator, all the peaces get scattered in the new svg. It's never happened before. Do you have any idea what it might be ? I wish it was as good as your video. Images I've tried, which were simple AI logos had a few paths which spanned vast lengths rather than many short paths. This made editing it very difficult. Got better results from illustrator's image trace expand function (albeit I get far too many paths that way)

What are your ( free) alternatives to adobe illustrator? i loved how easily you removed the background and would love to change colours on the vectorized graphic.. iv got Inkscape, I could never really figure it out tricky software to a newbie...

Yes, totally amazing and exactly what I have been looking for. I have almost photographic quality illustrations which I want to convert into vector illustrations for potential T-shirt designs. Of course Adobe Illustrator's trace option is okay, but in no way as good as this. Thank you so very much for making and uploading this wonderful video:)

Thank you. I do have a question tho. When I upscale the same image using an upscaler AI and when I vectorize it, they look very different, the upscaled version is not infinitely scalable but it looks much more like the original small file. The vectorized image looks very "cartoony", I was originally planning to include both svg and png on Etsy but since they look noticably different I'm not sure people would be happy. What do you think? Does every vectorized image look a little cartoony, so it is expected?

Yes vectors rarely look very photographic. So especially for more realistic looking ai art the SVG will look quite different. If you're giving them the choice of formats they can always use whichever they prefer ;)

I tried Vectorizer AI and when I download it is saved as html not svg. How did you get it to svg and in color? Is there an extra step that you are not mentioning?

I doubt you'll see this, nevermind reply to it.. but ive been following a lot of your videos and im getting confused! So, i make an image with midjourney, then vector it - is that sufficient for upscaling? Or do i need to upscale further? Also - does the vector take care of making the image 300dpi? Ive been struggling with background removal and this video has just been a gamechanger.. vector BEFORE removal!? Makes so much sense 😅 thank you for your content - so helpful!

vectors are unlimited quality so no need to upscale afterwards. So yeah if you vectorize, remove bg and save at 5000 pixels in illustrator you should have 300dpi

for tshirt design type of artwork I would go for this. More photography based, detailed images I would still use the upscalers

Just saving an image as svg won't actually turn it into a proper svg. It's like calling a potato "mashed potato" without actually mashing it😉

You're welcome! You can't edit Vectors in photopea or kittl as far as I am aware. But you can still turn them into high quality pngs with those tools

large size images don't work in vectorized. But as this example shows even with the original low res image the result is outstanding :)

Hey @PhilipAnders - Subscriber and viewer but also Devil's Advocate. I know it says "vectorizer" but people need to be careful. As someone who works with Photoshop and Illustrator (and a bunch of AI tools), these aren't *true* vector files (though they are .svg). Vectorizer has a nasty habit of discoloring, misshaping, and whatnot. It might look smoother around edges tho. Just throwing this out to others like me and you as a reminder: it is improbable (though not impossible) for you to be able to go from something like ChatGPT to Midjourney to Canva (or similar) to Printify to Etsy. That workflow will produce something - often very cool at lower resolutions but everything requires real work to produce high quality products for your buyers that won't look pixelated or funky. Maybe I'm too neurotic but before anything AI generated hits my store I've put at least an hour of real editing into it. Sometimes it's faster to just pump stuff our of illustrator (lots of great tutorials on youtube too). Good luck everyone!

I think there is a size limit for the input file. So upscaled images will probably be too big. But I don't think it's necessary

Unfortunately, Printful doesn’t even accept this file format. The only way, I suppose, is to sell the files and let them figure out where they are getting it printed. Hmmm. Any thoughts?

Once you have an svg you can save it as a PNG at any size and use that for print on demand. But yes you could also sell the svg as a digital download👍

Hmmm... trying to delete the background in Photopea. Haven't figured it out yet. It was so easy for you in AI. Could someone lend a hand and tell me how to do it? Thanks. Found it, I think. Rewatched: I vectorized an AI image and then brought it into Photopea to remove the background. Opening in Photopea showed dozens of layers. I deleted two white parts to remove the background and saved the file as a vector. But CANVA wouldn't let it download. I've tried several things but none would download to CANVA. Do you have any idea of what step I missed after deleting the two layers?
