What separates John's jobs from a lot of the other mulchers is the extra time he spends finishing things off. It really makes a big difference to how good the job looks at the end.

I have to say I'm really proud of Josh. He has really gotten the hang of running that mulcher quickly. You have the right idea of just putting your guys on the machines and letting them learn how to run them in a way that they learn how to be most efficient within their skillset.

Yet another excellent video. You have just the right mix of the machines at work and the commentary explaining what you did and what you still have left to do. I loved your arrival in the morning, with guys on their way. Judging by your demeanor, you weren’t “up and at ‘em” this morning. It looked chilly and like you’d like to knock off for the day, but can’t afford the luxury. But once you and the guys get going, you really get going. I’m sure the weather warming up really helped. Someone thought you needed a drone, but it really doesn’t make that much of a difference. The trick to the quality of your videos comes in the editing, when you put the story together. Remember, videos don’t just edit themselves, you have to work with them. And John, you know as well as I that you have if not the best, then certainly one of the best editors in the business in your wife, Jodi. She totally gets it - that a video is not just 30 minutes of watching machines at work. It’s basically an infomercial for your company and the point is to make it as interesting as possible. I love the placements of your commentary, when you show us what you’re dealing with and how you plan to attack it. She knows just where to place them to break up any monotony and set the stage for what goes on next. And this isn’t an accident. She has just as much of a stake in the company as John does. For instance, I recently watched a video of someone mulching and brush hogging for 48 minutes. No audio, just a little background music with a change of pace only near the end. After about 15 minutes I was totally bored. I also love the emphasis on the before an after on the job. You said you thought this day would never come, but as one who has watched and listened to every video you made, I can truthfully say that I saw it coming because I was watching a man using his inner drive combined with the grace of God, and three extraordinary employees that believe a 100% effort is the rule at all times and who love to learn. Oh, and about your Bobcat. Somehow I see a new excavator on your wish list. I’ve never been a Bobcat fan. I knew folks that owned them and a lot were, shall we say, underwhelmed. So, if you have the money, your next excavator should be a Caterpillar. Spend the extra $$, and enjoy the fruits of its labor.

I can't figure 14 dislikes... This is actually one of the better videos of a job starting with lots of brush and trees and ending up looking like a walking park in pretty much real time. Considering that's what I clicked on the video to watch. Great job on the video _and_ great job on the clearing. Thanks!

What are some interesting "finds" you've made while clearing land? I was running a bush-hog and found an old single barrel 12 gauge shotgun, an old manual water pump, chimney stack rubble from a long forgotten home and even tomb stones from the 1800's.

John, I have dealt with that issue in the past on the bobcat. If you would like you can send me an email with the machine info and I can get you a parts list and give you some tips as a 17 year heavy equipment tech. Love the DCR heads versus the bullhog heads, they don't beat up the equipment quite as bad.

Jon, what’s your impression of the Blackhawk now? Just trying to get a review of pros and cons. It seems like it bogs down really fast although it does recover quickly. Or was the operator of the Blackhawk mainly focusing on large items? Just would like to know your opinion of the new one versus the regular dcr.
