Never thought I'd hear straight up black metal in an anime and it somehow fitting seamlessly but cyberpunk delievered. Absolutely amazing.

Love how much the Cyber Punk radio branches in genre. Introduces people to some they've never heard before or "dead" genres.

We see flashes of Maine's life as this gangly, determined runner. It's a strong contrast in just about every way to the Maine we know. He, before his death, is a hulking mass of metal and surrounded by city and crime. He still has his heart deep down, but he even rejects his former - presumably - passion of running. He refuses to run, and instead keeps pursuing more and more. Which leads to his death through cyberpsychosis. He could have easily just downtuned, but that would be running. He could have easily gotten himself and Dorio out of there, but they needed this mission. And that would be running to break the contract. He then, once he saw David, knew that his life was always building to this. By trying to avoid running, trying to avoid that guy he was on the long stretch of road to nowhere, trying to find his path to somewhere, all he was doing was running all along but in another way. And so he commits to ending it, knowing you can't run from that black shadow in the horizon for long once it has its sight on you. And this all juxtaposes to when Maine meets David. This kid has nothing, and with the implant David technically stole, he's now the fastest in any room he goes in. He can run better than anyone. He starts his journey, his descent of sorts, as the exact opposite of what Maine wants. And YET David doesn't run away. He runs toward. And it's a beautiful realization that crests against Maine as he realizes that running wasn't the problem. The direction he ran was. But by then it's too late. That last flicker of a frame of him right before he shoots is beautifully placed.

Oh yes this is the one I was looking for! Thanks choom! SPOILER ALERT . . . . . . . . . From 3:05 onwards it is absolutely soul-crushing to see how deep over-the-edge Maine had fallen. I knew he was at risk of it, since the guy is chromed af that I bet even his teeth were metal. And what hurt the most is that he still retained a sliver of humanity, even after losing Dorio. He wasnt like those other cyberpsychos at the beginning or the one that flatlined Pilar, who had gone completely over the edge. He still recognized Dorio and David, his mind was stuck in a memory from when he was still completely organic, and he knew that his death was imminent. The final thousand-yard stare that he gave David was immensely painful to see, and became burned into my memory... I'm two episodes away from finishing this series, and I can tell it's only going to go downhill for David, Lucy and Becca...

Maine to David: just keep running kid Silverhand to V: never stop fighting

i know maine's send off was iconic but this song plays at another really underrated moment in the show. in episode 10, during kiwi's death as it begins the downward spiral of the crew from that point and 5:24 the shot transitions to lucy's lifeless pupils blinking is so chilling. ive replayed it hundreds of times. akira yamaoka is such a genius
