They never should've built 787 along the river. I recall this being disputed years ago but then the highway was built and it was seldom used back then. The same thing occurred with Washing Ave. Ext.,,,, which was really all part of the Pine Bush Reserve and for years,,, no one ever drove on it until office space started to be built along it. The Hudson River Front should've been a mix of low, middle, and upper class housing, restaurants, parks, water activities, etc, and all residents should've been able to utilize the same schools so the taxes could've been spread equally among the schools with students of all levels of income attending school together. Much like they've been doing in NJ for years. If it were me, I'd dismantle the section of 787 from the Port of Albany to Alternate 7, and figure something else out,,, trains, trolley cars, subway, etc.,,, or turn Henry Johnson Blvd into highway to downtown, and the residents along that region can be moved to new river front housing. It's just a shame they blocked the river front with a concrete highway that is an eye sore. It's nothing but parking lots and junk spots under the highway,,,, I know they built a bridge to walk across to get to the park, and that was a good idea, but a better one is to bring in a bulldozer and a crane and dismantle it and stop building office bldgs so close to the water.

Who really wants to live along a toxic river? They actually did a study in NY for people who lived along the Hudson had further more health problems than those living 10+ miles away. This would be a great if the river was used for rec. In the area with restaurants. But unfortunately that is a very unrealistic scenario on such a polluted waterway.

This is what my father did back in the 1960s as director of Trinity to involve the community and get all groups to talk. Back then Mayor Corning was Mayor. Looks like things will change one step at a time. I remember Alice Green as a child. She and my Dad worked together.

The only thing I ever learned from going to Ualbany is to invest in the property of this city. The only problem is the property taxes.

Instead of complaining about the crime, DO SOMETHING about it! Take back your streets, people!

Many of the parents in Albany ignore traffic laws with their kids. Many of these parents are civil servants. Youth in New York State deserve law-abiding, ethical and conscientious civil servants. Their future depends upon it. Double traffic fines in all capital cities to introduce law-abiding capital city streets and adults!
