Place duty above love. If you try to do both then you will drown in the middle of the ocean getting neither (there is an example couple for that too). If you place duty over love at least you will eventually get your love like Lakshman and Urmila. So if you have made a promise to elders, respect it because true love will wait.

Urmila's love was way greater than Sita's. Both Ram and Sita's love was selfish. They took Lakshman with them leaving Urmila behind. If Sita could not live without Ram, then how she let Urmila live without Lakshman? She did this to her own sister. Both of them took Lakshman with them even when there was no need and then let him do all the work in the forest. Hence because they separated Lakshman and Urmila so Ram and Sita also got separated after Vanvas once again for a similar period of time. Every mistake has to be paid for and even god is no exception. Perhaps that is why none of Sita's sisters objected or took a stand when Sita was sent to exile, because she also did not think about Urmila. Somebody else is willing to sacrifice does not mean that you let them sacrifice. Because at the end of the day this will become your karma and you would have to pay for it. If one lady could be looked after in forest, then so could two.

Had Sita avoided her visit to vanvas then, Ravana- a demon wouldn't have been killed by Ram! You are looking at the picture from a very narrow perspective......do you know love in incomplete without separation.....and that's the reason why not only Urmila, but also Sita, Radha, Rukmani and gopis suffered it! Nothing happens without the will of the Supreme personality of Godhead...so why He would like to be separated from His beloved? The reason is to intensify love which is very very important to become the true love actually! Virah is the best of all the gifts that Lord Himself can give to anyone cause the intention behind it is vishesh yog which is only possible when a lover is not physically present....how does He become selfish I don't understand over here!
