I played against well known Chess legend Yasser Seirawan. He was a former 4 time US National Champion. Games were played at the Charlotte Chess Center!

Wait a minute. She says she worked through all the puzzles in "his" book and then says the book was "How to Reassess your Chess" ( by IM Jeremy Silman)? Yasser is very gracious though and doesn't even call out her error.

It is always a pleasure to watch Yasser (such positive energy) and Alex is so driven that she is also fun to watch! I could see the "downward pressure" Yasser created along the diagonal (8:31 into the vid) when he played his first red token on the top row (winning move!!!) and because it stops Alex from playing (in this case) the losing move in the far right column (where she accidentally played), I counted spots left for them to play and "even if" she did not play the losing move on the far right they would have taken consecutive turns played everywhere else available and Alex in the end "would have been forced" to play there and lose!!! I suspect Yasser knows well the "downward diagonal" pressure tactic!!!! :) Did he tell her about his experience here? ... I think not!! :)

It’s funny. I used to play at tournaments where Yasser was playing all the time although he was in obviously a better group. But I played basketball with him a couple times and he was pretty good. But at that time I think maybe he had just win the World Junior title. In the late 70s he was almost like a rock star.

I was making notes for myself. Not sure if this is accurate but i think you missed Na6 at 4:32 to attack the bishop and win the pawn at c6. Then you also missed Nxb8 to win the pawn at c6 at 5:25

Knight takes E5 at 5:07 would be curious. Queen takes kinight, queen takes queen, pawn takes queen, rook takes rook, rook takes rook, rook takes rook would have won the exchange. If pawn takes knight then rook x rook, rook x rook and rook takes rook also wins the exchange. Looks like a good idea. Did I miss something? Oh, and the last two are checks so the bishop falls too. It would have been a won game for white. Did I miss something??
@davidyoung633129 күн бұрын
Actually, 6:07 is the time to take the pawn.

I was looking at Nxd5 and at first thought it was winning. But it loses to g4. because the queen can't move anywhere without dropping the knight.
