In this video we due some modifications and improvements on Revell's US Navy Swift Boat Mk. I in order to get everything ready for painting.
This is Revell's US Navy Swift Boat Mk. I in 1/72 scale, kit No. 05176.
The Swift Boat, also known as the Patrol Craft Fast (PFC) was initially used to patrol coastal areas and later for working interior waterways in Vietnam. The US Navy no longer uses these vessels, but they are still in use in Vietnam today. Approximately 125 of this type of watercraft were built by Stewart Seacraft during the Vietnam War.
I hope you enjoy this video.

Good afternoon Johnny. I’ve only recently discovered your scale modelling channel and I’m finding it very enjoyable indeed. Here’s a tip for you, Tamiya masking tape is expensive stuff and I’ll use it only for important masking. For general purpose masking I’ll use Japanese Craft Tape (Washi Tape), widely available online and you get a lot more for your money! Keep up the great work.👍😎

Hi Lloyd, thanks so much for your kind compliment my friend! Thanks for the tip on washi tape, I just ordered some on Amazon to give a try. You are right about Tamiya tape being expensive, so it will be nice to have a masking tape that is good for "filler". Thanks for watching, take care and model on! 😁Johnny

Nice boat assemblies, those handrail guards can be very fragile. Looks good Johnny😊

Nice job, Johnny. All of that drill work requires patience, practice and a steady hand! I'm looking forward to the paint job later this week. My copy of this kit arrived last week and on inspection, it has all of the same issues with the ejector pin marks as your kit. It didn't have the excess flash around the holes for the rail at the stern. Also of note was the piece that forms the Air Scoops for the front of the Wheel House, on yours there was the need to take out some distortion on one side while the part in my kit seems to be properly formed with no apparent distortion.

Hi Gerry, good to hear your kit has arrived, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine, but I really enjoy the fitting and fixing process. As new as this kit is you would expect it to not have fit issues, but they are small ones. Most annoying are the ejector pin marks, but we expect those I suppose. Take care and good luck with your build my friend. Johnny

Nice one Johnny🙂 Are you going to do the realistic 'sag' on the handrail chain on the final assembly?
@hillbillymodeling
@hillbillymodeling 9 ай бұрын
Hi Vincent, it seems that you're reading my mind. In some photos the top line of the handrail is tight and straight and in others it has a sag. I think a little sag would look good, what do you think? Take care and model on my friend. Johnny

@hillbillymodeling I think definitely add a sag or two if you see them on your reference photos. As a modeller, I try to recreate what I see when it comes to detail in actual pictures. I like what you're doing, Johnny, carry on my friend🙂

@@clivecunningham9397 Hi Clive, I think this will look so much better than the thread thing that Revell suggested. I am leaning towards giving it a little sag to give the impression of a cable, which is what the real one is. Thanks so much for your support my friend, good luck with your build! Johnny
