@@independencerailfanning1073 The entire signal was replaced. Not entirely sure why, but I suspect the wiring or something else with it was getting worn out so the ATN decided to go ahead and upgrade it entirely.

Yeah it got replace a few days ago apparently.

@@TheCentralTexasRailfan I'm not sure how long ago it was, but I did only find out yesterday. Based on how fresh the signal still looked though, I'm guessing it was within the past few weeks.

They need to stop replacing ALL mechanical bells. They need to replace ebells with mechanical bells, except 4 the rare ones like the safetran type 1

I almost suspect it was replaced due to it starting to have issues. As Porter mentioned in the description, the train's conductor was out to flag the crossing due to an apparent recent (at the time) malfunction with the crossing, so I wouldn't be surprised if the ATN felt it was worthwhile to just go ahead and replace the signal. Also, as a side note, the bells now ring until the signals shut-off.
