US Secretary of State Motorcade in London

Secretary of State of the United States of America, Antony Blinken is in London for three days to take part in talks and meetings with representatives of other G7 member states. A large motorcade led by the Metropolitan Police Special Escort Group then transported him and the rest of the delegation to meet with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab.

I think Dominic Raab or another UK minister was in the BMW 7 series followed by his close protection Land Rover at the back, because if you look at the videos of the motorcade arriving at Downing Street that BMW and Land Rover aren’t in it.

This motorcade is small compared to the motorcade the secretary of state is provided in other countries. Moreover the BMW sedan along with the range Rover at the end of motorcade is the US ambassador's along with the British special branch security detail.

I've always noticed Us motorcade are quite small, It's only the president that moves in a massive motorcade with sirens

@@RYOUGI_SHIKII Depends on the country. Other than POTUS's motorcade, US security always prefer small and quick motorcades, it's their host that usually spoils them.

In Secretary Blinken's part of the motorcade, there are also suit and tie officers from US State Department's DSS (Diplomatic Security Service). DSS is the equivalent of the secret service for SecState and the Undersecretary of State

@BluelightTV I have a question, perhaps you or anyone else here can answer it. On the A11, we were overtaken by a single police car which proceeded to blue light us and make us drive behind it. After a few minutes it drove off and we carried on as normal? What happened? Also, could you direct me to some resources to learn about UK emergency vehicles, all the terminology etc? I really wanna learn

Nice change from those ugly Chevrolet suburbans they often travel in. Blinken was in the range rover this time but the bmw 7 series is the same one that Mike Pompeo and Lloyd Austin used on their recent visits. I wonder who was in it this time.

I think that’s only used for VP’s and presidents. The 7 series could be part of the US fleet of vehicles from the embassy perhaps.

@@Horizon301. in London that is, but in paris and most other countries that drive on the right the secretary is met with a fleet of chevrolets with registrations of whatever country.
