Americans Don't Go to the Doctor - Here's WHY:
As we were going to Lieles second Eye Doctor appointment in Aydin, Turkiye; he had the realization about why Americans don't go to the doctor. Yes, the financial aspect is the main reason, but not the only one.
You will find in this video some of the big differences you will find when going to the doctor in the US, in Turkiye, and even in Spain.
How is it going to the doctor in your country?

Hi both. I am so glad that, all being well, your eyes are going to be fine in a few months Lieles. Sight is so incredibly precious, I would be scared too. I live in the UK and we are used to seeing a Dr if there is a problem, even though waiting times are longer since the pandemic. The US concept seems so alien to me. You are in a great country for health care from my experience. They saved my mums life in Fethiye 15 years ago when she needed an emergency operation, she's now 84. Even the Dr in the UK said she would probably not have made it in the UK as the wait for an ambulance and then to be operated on would have been too long. We were so lucky to be in Fethiye near a fabulous hospital who were so incredibly efficient and swift. I've found Turkish dentists to be great too. I would have no hesitation in being treated in Türkiye. I'm sure you are in great hands. Keeping fingers crossed for you all 🤞

Firstly, get well soon. I hope there will be no problems soon 🙏🏻 As someone who has been indirectly involved in this sector for more than 30 years, I must say that the health sector in Turkey is not 100% perfect in terms of patients, health personnel and the functioning of the system, but we are still in a good position in many areas. Coming to Turkey for treatment from all over the world is not only because it is economically advantageous, but also because we have really well-trained health personnel and good medical equipment 👍🏻 We also have the habit of going to the doctor for the smallest thing, and this unfortunately increases the burden of both the health personnel and the state economically 🤷🏻‍♀️ Please don't neglect Lieles' glucose control and diet, this is no joke 😔 I love you canım Mamucholarım, healthy days to all of us 🙏🏻🧿

Yes, totally, the situation is very similar in Spain, and the burden exists all across the country. Yes, he is under full supervision, can't allow him to get sick, we need him strong and healthy. Love you too dear sister Funda!! Healthy days to you!!

So glad to hear that it's super serious for Lieles' eyes. Hope you get a speedy recovery! Yup agree you should be feeling more comfortable going to the doctor in your home country. That's so interesting to see that people in the US find a hard time going to the doctor. We feel lucky here in Australia because we have what we think is a much better health system than in other countries. And if we need to go to doctor, we can take any time of the day, as most corporate companies will allow you to do that for medical and health purposes.

That is wonderful. We see that Australia and NZ are in a different light when it comes to anglo speaking countries. It is so hard for me (Maria) to accept the current health care situation in the US. The priorities there are upside down (in my opinion) Happy you guys have great options and understanding from corporations.

I never heard that in Spain we go to the doctor for anything. This is the first time 😂 In my circles, it's usually pharmacy first. But guess what, in S. Korea as soon as you are sick you "go to the hospital". Language thing here: what in Spain is " go to the doctor. As like a private practice or some specialized doctor, in Korea they call it hospital (but still it could be a small clinic) and fun y thing for me, many times, whan in Europe can be solved with pills or some meds, in Korea is injection right away (because you shouldn't be too long sick, can't stop showing up at the office!). As far as I know, there is no "call in sick" in Korea if you are not really K.O. Spain is more flexible on that, no?

No?? In Madrid, Valencia and Murcia (where I have lived long term) the sanidad is always packed, whether is hospitals or centros de salud. Even we have a joke saying that is where retired people spend their mornings and thats why the waiting lists are so long and even when you are there, the scheduled time is never the one they take you in. Yes, I agree we go to the pharmacy for everything, but now there are restrictions in different communities. Like in Madrid is really hard to get medicine unless you have a prescription from the medico de cabecera, but in Seville you can still get pretty much anything. Thank you for sharing about Korea, sick days are forbidden apparently in many countries lol.. In Spain...you know, Spain is different 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

I totally relate to this. I always was made to feel guilty if I called in sick and so I went to work sick most of the time. Hated going to the doctor too. Like you said, the cost and then sometimes you don't know if you're really going to get help with your problem and I don't like these medicines with all the side affects. I'd rather see a nurse practitioner these days.

Yes, it is crazy, I think the worst part is that they make you believe that is a normal thing, like that is actually how life is or should be. Send you all our best energy!

Hi guys, you are 100% correct about the US, I don't know how to explain about this situation in Indonesia. In a short story, we still go to medicine man because of words of mouth, but we also trust doctors in Singapore and Penang more to cure serious illnesses. While our govt aiming Bali to be the destination of our medical tourism. Confused? Me too? 😂
