There was 1 in Scotland for a few years about a decade ago but it shut down because I'm guessing people here didn't want to pay hipster level pricing. UK doesn't really need wholefoods their niche is already filled by many other competitors.

As a Londoner, I didn't even know Whole Foods had stores in the UK. I think I'll check them out, but like they said in the video its more of a higher end supermarket and the quality is questionable.

in fairness for international audiences that's basically what most of them think of, but most US chains start in one of the big cities, 5 in London alone is pushing it though, not even a single one in Manchester or something?

Chicken Tikka Masala is usually a combination of tomato and cream. It is supposed to be that color. I was disappointed that you didn't try it.

The marinade they use for the tikka chicken usually is quite red and dyes the chicken which is why the chicken had that pink colour on the outside

I understand that the options available at the Whole Foods hot bar may vary depending on the location, day of the week, and the cook on duty. For example, Whole Foods stores in the Philadelphia area sometimes offer cheesesteaks and Italian roast pork sandwiches. Even the pizzas at my local Whole Foods can vary in quality, including being underdone, overcooked, or smaller than usual. Therefore, it's not fair to directly compare them. Also, I have seen cottage pie, beef lasagna, and wings being offered at my local Whole Foods hot bar.

It wasn't the usual kind of potato salad you'd find in the UK though. I'd say the standard version would have mayo plus chives or spring onions/scallions.

I love eating Whole foods hotbar for meals. I typically eat ~$20-30s worth (even after the price increase from June 2024). Garlic-ricotta and mushroom-caramel onion are my favorite spices. Whenever I see sausage-spinach macaroni and cheese I splurge-hope my regular updates their menu. Unfortunately the WF I go to in SF doesn't do breakfast. I tried it once or twice, yet crave for an opportunity to indulge in those dishes. My current alternative that has yet to increase their hot bar prices (as of July 2024) is a local chain called Gus's Community Market. Which does $10.99/lbs with a smaller and localized selection during a tight time window.

How they get you at the hot bar is the per pound pricing. You think a pound is a lot and so when you get to the check out you’re paying almost $30 because you someone added 2.5lbs of food but it doesn’t even look like it

I am sorry, but I have always considered organic foods to be kinda scammy. Trading a small chance that something is a little healthier for a huge price mark up. That, and organic crops are not as productive in general, so less food can be produced in a given area(in general, not always), which is a bad thing, starvation is still a problem in worldwide.

In the US, the only item I get consistently from the hot bar are the plantains at breakfast. Everything else is mostly miss.

No, it does not. People somehow need to put cheese on everything these days. Have no idea why, because they do not use good quality cheese to add flavour but it only creates that horrible burnt crust or/and it makes strings. BTW, I love cheese as such.

16:00, yeah they should not have the soup actually boiling at the hot bar, that is indeed not safe, and also not good for the containers you put the soup in, the container warps with contents at that temp and therefore could spill in your bag.

I had channa masala. Which I happen to notice they just brought out a fresh full tray they must have still made it in house because when I ate that with rice and naan, I got food poisoning. I was tested and they found a parasite. I still go there for organic fruits and vegetables plus some vegan foods but there buffet bar is a huge HELL NO.

How can eating organic reduce exposure to pesticides, when pesticides are still allowed to be used in organic farming? Didn't know that? Yeah, it's true, plenty of "organic" chemicals that are toxic to humans but still allowed and heavily used in organic farming. They actually have to use MORE of them because they aren't as effective, haha.

Literally EVERY supermarket in UK has Potato Salad next to the Coleslaw. Terrible video for so many reasons but mainly because seemingly run out of ideas. Oh & finally "not a seasoning in sight, they might just be potatoes" turns into "very buttery & well salted" LMAO.
