I agree, but sadly I think this was a once in a generation type thing. Powerful song, bringing powerful performers ( many at the very peak of their success) together. Leaving egos at the door, and all putting such an incredible performance together. Several of these performers were chart topping over and over at the time of this and they agreed to join this even if they only got to perform one line, or even a partial line.. INCREDIBLE.

Michael and angels should never be in the same sentence. He's burning in hell for all the boys he took advantage of sexually. Sure the parents pimped out their boys for a cash payout. He was burning thru his money and fled the country. AND I was a big MJ fan back in the day before he started bleaching his skin. (look at any pic of him in the 80s and then in the 2000s.)

There’s zero talent, zero passion, and the uniqueness level of today’s “artists” is also at level ZERO. The singers of tofu can’t even sing OR rap. Today’s music is complete trash. Today’s music isn’t worth listening to. Sure, there are tons of great singers; anyone can have a “great voice” but the golden era of REAL music 1960’s to the 2000’s is gone. Let them try and recreate WATW today with today’s “singers”. It’s impossible. Nothing can compare to the oldies and I’m someone who’s young and can definitely attest to the fact that this generation of music today is trash.

People still care for eachother. I live in the south alabama and we were just battered by hurricane sally and down every road there were people helping others and giving water. People helping get trees off of people houses. We cleaned up debris from around my house but also every house on my street. This world still has good in it.

@@IggyStardust1967 it's a damn shame that you think the only time we help eachother is during a natural disaster. I just used the hurricane as a reference. I don't know how it is where you live, but where I come from we are there for eachother. Example: woman across the street 88 years old lives alone and her family lives in different states so we take care of her. The whole neighborhood gets her groceries, new clothes, we cut her lawn, get her mail. All things we don't have to do but we do because there are good people out there.

Brianna Watkins I live in Baltimore, and I have seen people ignore others in immediate distress. They don’t want to get involved, in case something bad happens to them for “doing the right thing”. The old adage of “No good deed goes unpunished” is alive and well here. Compassion is hard to come by, here. Not impossible, but quite rare.

I saw an interview of Katherine Jackson where she was talking about how Michael Jackson saw a commercial on TV about starving children in Africa and how kids were dying. And he told his Mom, "Someday, I'm going to do something about that." I had always known this song, but didn't know he wrote it to help others. He was such a brilliant man who cared for everyone.

I love to see young people attempting to know where it all started and looking back to see who was big at that moment in time. Those are a lot of the stars who were huge in the 1980's. Back when star power was at it's peak..... I'm sad you don't know Diana Ross and Tina Turner! They are legends! Look them up when you get the chance! That song generated billions to help feed the world over time..... And yes.... Mike was a super mega star at that point in his life who also co-wrote the song by the way!

For a week, MJ & Lionel Richie spent every night working on lyrics and melodies in Jackson's bedroom. Jackson's older sister La Toya watched the two work on the song, and later contended that Richie only wrote a few lines for the track. She stated that her younger brother wrote 99% of the lyrics, "but he's never felt it necessary to say that". La Toya further commented on the song's creation in an interview with the U.S. celebrity news magazine People. "I'd go into the room while they were writing and it would be very quiet, which is odd, since Michael's usually very cheery when he works. It was very emotional for them." Richie had recorded two melodies for "We Are the World", which Jackson took, adding music and words to the song in the same day. Jackson stated, "I love working quickly. I went ahead without even Lionel knowing, I couldn't wait. I went in and came out the same night with the song completed-drums, piano, strings, and words to the chorus."Jackson then presented his demo to Richie and Jones, who were both shocked; they did not expect the pop star to see the structure of the song so quickly.
