Lot of excellent points made. 1. I don't think gun culture is an issue per se. I will say that it's more of a manifestation of deeper problems. If you want to just chalk it upto guns are the problem, ok, but I will disagree. 2. India should improve the quality of it's products. We generally prefer foreign made products because of perceived superior quality of Korean, American, Japanese etc foreign made products within that price range. 3. I whole heartily agree that we should work on increasing our internal resilience. Here I will just say that our gov's communication sucks big time a lot of times. They should up their game. The public can smell bullshit and if not immediately then within a 2 - 3 year duration, eventually. (Taking moral high ground doesn't help)

We are just 3 years away from making Kaveri to fly Tejas. Alpha defence bro says that every naive person tends to blame HAL "arey ye to sarkari company hai, nikamme hai sab", but understand 10 years ago Kaveri had reached the stage where it was producing 71 kn thrust, just 10 kn short of required thrust, and it's funding was stopped. HAL is doing everything to sustain the supply of these jets, it is the government to be blamed, more specifically the Babu's in the government.
