Not only china upgraded their equipment since then. Plus that was a proxy war not a full scale war between china and the us. No one wants to mess with the full power of the us army alone. Experience is crucial too. very few chinese soldiers have war experience nowadays, unlike the us army who fought several wars not that long ago. They have new war doctrines and strategies based on theese experiences. They have the knowledge to be succesful in a modern conflict. The meaning of war changed a lot since the war between china and vietnam. Second russian invasion of ukraine is a great example. I wish that theese two countries will not fight tough. There would be a lot of deaths for both sides that's for sure. There's no such land on the earth wich worth the end of many human lifes.

China does not need a conscripted military system. In China's first level combat readiness, there are over 30 million combatants who will be recalled. 刚查了一下还真有。 1998年12月29日修正的《中华人民共和国兵役法》，规定实行义务兵与志愿兵相结合、民兵与预备役相结合的兵役制度。中华人民共和国公民不分民族、种族、职业、家庭出身、宗教信仰和教育程度，都有依法服兵役的义务。兵役分为现役和预备役。18～22岁的男性公民应当被征集服现役；根据军队需要和自愿原则，可征集18～22岁的女性公民服现役。义务兵服现役的期限为2年，服现役期满，根据军队需要和本人自愿，可改为志愿兵（又称士官）。士兵退出现役时，符合预备役条件的，由部队确定服士兵预备役。士兵预备役的年龄为18～35岁。战时遇有特殊情况，36～45岁的男性公民也可被征集服现役。

你义务教育怎么学的，我们所有的兵大部分都是义务兵，只不过因为人太多了养不起所以征兵的时候才会挑。服完兵役可以选择继续服役还是退伍，继续服役后就不是义务兵了，会给你发薪水的。

China boosted its army in the last 20 or so years, while US didn’t do much since a colapse of a Soviet union, lot of Maerican tenks are from the 70s and still use ww2 englinge that drinks a lot, it’s unreliable and hive a hige heat signature, Chinese stral a lot of tehnology from all sides, created bunch of new invovations, and comparisson wise Chinese tenks are younger a lot on average. Overall US just has a strong aviation and that is about it, but with countries like Russia or China it would not help them a lot, since they have advanced air defensees. It is useful when you attack middle eastern countries for no reason. Ok it is not that black and whiye, buy growth rate of China in all aspects since 2000 is bruond believable. Check a reality in US propaganda you obviously can not hear the true. Look at China’s railway system and compare it to crapy US one. In China Metro stations are clean, safe and modern, you don’t see bad odor, junkies, and rat for example
