How odd that none of the reporters commented on the fact that five (5) goals fell in the first half and none in the second half not counting the 11m. Did the substitutions do so much more poorly? Was the starting team makeup so uniquely superb? Or did the Jamaicans find their defensive stride only after 90 minutes?

Because she only 5’1” she cannot be a target player in front of goal just to short especially those teams with tall defenders. With out any extra ordinary jumping ability at 5’1” she isn’t going to out jump anybody not physically possible. If they try to play her at center forward they would have find a way to get her the ball via the ground attack. I see no way for a 5’1” player without a really good vertical be effective in the middle as a target player

Critique of the Jamaican team. (1) Parking the bus, soaking up attacking pressure and playing the long ball to a lone striker is absurd against the best team in the world. (2) The Girlz could not complete a simple three pass combination, thus no quality possession time. The reason-because they played using flat lines of two deep blocks(midfield and defence) as opposed to the USA using triangles. Triangles always play circles around flat lines(3) Defensive coordination was non-existent, ball staring by the defence, contributed to the inability to setup the offside trap needed to expose the weakness in the American attack. (4) Insufficient pressing by the midfield allowed America to roam freely through the midfield and utilize their wide players and get behind the Jamaican defence. (4) The players did not appear to be executing any specific philosophy of play, either defensively or offensively, this is a weakness attributed to the technical staff. The good - The Jamaican team has strengths that other teams don't have (speed, acceleration and rapid pace). Technical staff need to improve the passing game and individual technical skills. Back to basics.

Just want to mention to hoopoe 16: The flicker especially when there is fast movement is quite irritating. I don't know whether you have any control over this. The resolution is O.K. but the frame rate is too slow which causes this flicker. 30f/s has always been borderline, 60f/s is the gold standard in medical digital motion studies. Of course I am writing this 7 years after the game. It shows the progress that has been made over the years. Just saying. But it still is a great video, thank you.

Jamaica will close the gap on the USA and be more competitive by the time the World Cup comes around. Mark my words! It was a 0-0 second half score. The penalty that was awarded to the Usa was 100% not a penalty. The Us forward stepped on the Swaby's leg a fell .

Didn't that defender fowl Brown from behind well into the box? no penalty was given, yet the U,S Although having 5 already, was given a penalty call from what looked trivial to me from what the 16 year old encountered.

no, well outside the box. you can see O'Hara come across at 1:35:36 _( i would guess some 25 yards from goal )_ .. the Jamaica defender ( after overrunning the play ) pulled Morgan down by her waist to stop her from a clear goal scoring opportunity. Morgan had already cut past the onrushing goalkeeper and all of Jamaica's defensive backs were just catching up with the play

the ref was biased in favor of the US. Too bad. Being a little more lenient with the underdog is the normal reaction of fair-minded and compassionate refs. This ref lagged those essential qualities. I saw at least 2 yellows coming against the US but they never arrived.

Your picture indicates that you are a guy which may have a little bit to do with your statement. Because to many men she is quite pretty, especially as far as women footballers go. There isn't much competition. But as in Snow-White, there are others in the land that play better even if they may not have the looks or fame. Morgan lacks tenacity, fire in the belly or the killer instinct like Ertz. Her footwork doesn't equal Cristal Dunn's or Rapinoe's. Her speed , on those rare occasions when she finds herself chasing the ball for some distance, is rather pathetic. She should take lessons from Williams. She gets her quota of goals, but not because she invests in the preparatory footwork. In fact, she reminds me of a Moray eel, waiting for some morsel to drift by, i.e. some midfielder to put the ball on her pantoffle while she loiters in front of the opposition's goal. $250K/ year would motivate most people to earn it.

Jamaica qualified out of CONCACAF besting Panama on PKs in the third place match. Panama failed to qualify, falling to Argentina in the CONCACAF-CONMEBOL playoff.

Keep in mind that USA is number one on FIFA's world ranking list and Jamaica is sixty (60) or thereabouts. The football gods ordained that these two teams should meet. Nobody said it was going to be a serious contest. Perhaps a little background check before the game would have prepared you for what was going to be in store. Of course, the US is the better team. But considering how fate brought these two teams together in a qualifying match shows how wide a tent FIFA has deliberately created with its rules. It shows matches otherwise impossible to watch. A bit wild and wooly but leading to contest constellations that are unique and gratifying.

You are correct, in principle. But an anthem that begins with "Eternal Father" isn't every body's cup of tea. A religious theme doesn't belong in a modern national anthem, especially when you familiarize yourself with the culture, historical origin and the fact that the Jamaican society is mostly secular. But lyrics can be changed. Perhaps it is time.

I'm sorry but the female announcer drives me nuts. I can't stand her "lingo" She uses the word PACE and it sounds out of place. Pace is related to a constant speed not when you're talking about running fast in spurts. She uses "finds space" but not always when it's appropriate and then "finds her favorite left" when it isn't their favorite left. She's just weird! She's trying to be unique way too hard.
