And Tianna does it AGAIN!! When you have a person who can start a relay that fast, it puts the entire field at a disadvantage. And I know most of the glory goes to the person who finishes the race. But one more start like that, and people may have to view Tianna as the greatest 4 x 100 relay womens runner in American history.

She is the best starter I have ever seen. I remember in the London women’s 4x100, she ran the first leg along side Fraser Pryce who is an absolute legend and known for her fast starts, and Tiana was way ahead by the time the got to the trade off. Not to mention she also won gold in long jump. What can’t she do!

Evan Carlson Exactly. Shelley Ann is a rocket but in that London final Tianna ate her up on that opening leg. It was extraordinary. They had smooth baton exchanges but that start was a massive reason they broke the world record.

NO! The second leg is always the longer leg. Allyson Felix, the 2012 Olympic 200 m gold medalist usually runs this longer leg for the USA. This powerful 1-2 combination of Barteletta and Felix was the lead off for the USA Olympic gold world record in the 2012 London Olympics and again for the USA Olympic gold and 2nd fastest time ever at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Can't help but love the relays..😁 My fav of all time is the 1988 Women's 4x100 relay where the USA is behind going into the final lap and Evelyn Ashford made up that gap to bring it home! 😂 Fantastic!
@TV-fv1ih
@TV-fv1ih Жыл бұрын
That race was a classic of how not to position runners on a team. The US won that race on sheer speed and the fact that Ashford always had another gear! Ashford should have run the second leg and FloJo the anchor! Putting FloJo third may have been the dumbest move ever! The Jamacans made a similar dumb move with SFP and VCB. Never put your fastest 100m people on the turns because you negate their speed by asking them to slow down to hand off!

WEEEEEAAAAK!!!!!! Conveniently did NOT show what happened before the toss, how the Brazilian runner was in the USAs lane, causing Felix to bump her and lose balance. Anything that happened after that is inconsequential. The USA protested, won, re-qualified with the world leading time, and later won the gold medal with the second fastest time in history of the event, 41.01, second ONLY to themselves, 40.82

This might be the most impressive track race we've ever seen, period. To win Olympic gold in the 4x100 from lane 1 is unheard of and may never happen again. More impressive than WVN's 400 in lane 8 and Rudisha's 800 WR. This race was stunning, especially after dropping the baton in the semis and then qualifying all alone in lane 2 in the rerun. Putting Allyson on this team was the greatest decision USATF has ever made, even though she didn't run the 100 at the trials and didn't even qualify in the 200.

For me, this race is most impressive, for 2 reasons : 1. The 1st DQ, which was rightly, overruled. ----2. This was the Jamaican team who won in 2015, & like the French swimmers in 2008, they just knew they would win this time, too. The looks on their faces, said it all. ---Yes, as great as 2008 was--& it truly was---this time, was sooooooo delicious! AND, our Ladies were as always, gorgeous, classy, powerful, graceful, & without question, THE BEST !! ----There are no women in this world, like American women, no matter what, where, or when ! ---------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o

Daniel Cameron The evidence is: how many World Championship or Olympic relay gold medals have been won from lane one?
@danielcameron950
@danielcameron950 7 жыл бұрын
ranhill that's coincidence though because of the psychology of people thinking lane 1 is tighter when it really isn't so it's basically a placebo effect so makes them run slower.

Good god, this is a race that takes 41.0 and the best they can do here is an abbreviated re-cap? And the announcer has all the emotion and excitement of the GPS lady. Where is the equivalent to the broadcast of the 2012 world record breaking run. I've watched that race a thousand times and get excited all over again every time. A great run by the American women here, a travesty of a broadcast.

2 things about Allyson 2nd leg is the longest distance of the 4x100 meter relay and 100 meters isn’t Allyson’s race that she is the best at

She's not the best at 100 but her top end speed is unmatched, so you exploit that on the 2nd leg. Her usual slow drive phrase is eliminated with the running start so it's almost perfect situation.

VCB is usually one of Jamaica's strong legs running the curve but I guess she's not on form. Allyson Felix kept with Elaine Thompson on the back straight. Team effort from USA led to the win. Tianna Madison really does very well on the first leg. I may be wrong but it seem to me that Jamaicans could have run a lot better if their baton changes were smoother.

Yup, Bowie turned almost completely around just before the exchange, a serious no-no in fundamentals of 4x100 relay. They would have really come close to the world record from 2012 had that exchange been better. But a gold is a gold regardless of breaking the world record. And from lane 1? Wow, just awesome.

Tori Bowie is totally new to the relay. Essentially no experience. So she had to be really careful receiving the baton from the hard charging English Gardner. I say "turn around as many times as necessary." Then we saw her famous top end speed! USA!

Bartaletta big time heart in 2012/ 2016 400 Meter Relay , the two fastest times ever recorded also a 2016 Gold Medal in the Long Jump . Allison Felix will go down as one of the greatest American Sprinters Man or Women . Always prepared gracious in victory congratulatory in defeat . Love the American Women sprinters . The Men have been a disappointment , The Jamaican ruled Sprinting the 2008/2012 Olympics . Usain Bolt Greatest Sprinter of all times ,and I've seen the greats in their prime , Owens ,Hayes, Smith ,Carlos , Green, Lewis ,Hines and Micheal Johnson absolute greats in the sport . I place Usain Bolt above all of those great Sprinters longevity .
