@@EmilMujanovic dude, are you stupid? Speed limits are not arbitrary. If the speed limit in an area is 35, it's because they have determined that's the fastest speed you can safely drive. 35 is pretty low so it indicates that there are potential hazards around such as pedestrians etc. There is a world of difference between going 1mph over and going nearly triple the speed. If I have to explain that difference to you, you should have your license revoked as well. 60mph over the speed limit is multiple counts of reckless endangerment in addition to the plain speed infraction. Quit being a fool.

Very glad he was held responsible because 96 in a 35 is wild dangerous. But still gave him a break by not arresting him and impounding his car (his city cop car!! the city can bill him for the impound fees lol) which should have been done given the amount over the speed limit he was. At 60 plus over you ain't getting a reduced citation and should get the reckless driving charge no matter your previous driving record. Since it was a must appear, it probably was a misdemeanor careless or reckless depending on state law but the cop has discretion on arresting and should have made the arrest here. Had enough guts to give him the full citation but not make an arrest of on the chief.

No. 61mph over is mandatory jail time in most states, and usually comes with a slew of other arrestable offenses. The police for this specific department in GA is to arrest and impound the vehicle if defined as a "super speeder" (75+ on 2 lane, 85+ on 4 lane or interstate), so why the hell didn't he arrest the officer and have the other officer in the car drive it to be impounded?
