Cat5 experience: was drilling through interior block wall wondering why the bit stopped going through. Found out I was hitting the metal conduit box for the mains power breaker box on the other side. It's a good thing the bit didn't make it through!

FYI if you have multiple input languages installed on a Windows box, Win+[space] switches the input language rather than ignoring.

Another idea would be using a website like Grabify, as you can shorten the link (even to a google one) and it will give you more information like the IP, user agent (platform, browser, OS, device), host name, time and country. This could be more helpful for finding what specific device has opened the payload. Keep up the great work Hak5 team!

Geeze, I'm old. I've used SunOS, Solaris, 4.2 and 4.3 BSD, 386BSD, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, MacOS, Windows (from 3.0 though to today, with a small detour onto 1.0), Ubuntu, Debian, Minix, Plan 9, plus some mainframe crap no one cares about. And that's just the ones I remember offhand.

Only one problem, if you have multiple languages on windows, the windows + space command will switch between the languages. Its not gonna ruin the script, but it will still change the language, and the user would probably notice that.

Another gotcha with unknown drives: I once saw a horde of unattended drives laid out as PR swag that turned out to be the "fun" kind that misrepresents capacity (possibly 2GiB misreporting as 8's). The marketing materials were tiny so they probably never knew they were setting up their prospects for surprise data loss.

Alt(Option)+F2 opens the display settings on Macbook retina 2015 (Sierra). Not preventing the payload to be executed, but still not totally clean. I guess there are plenty of alternatives for Alt+F2 for Linux though. Anyway, great video guys. Very well done :D

Maybe for the Mac, add in a CMD+w, to force the keyboard assistant closes, if this Rubber ducky is pretending to be a keyboard. If it gets command line access, I'm pretty sure that OSX still implements the "open" command. It will also respond to URLs.

Great segment and I like your solution. Alt+F2 is pretty standard on most Linux desktop environments for opening a run box, but not all open up urls. For example, Cinnamon does not open urls from it's run box, although Alt+F2 does open the box. I wonder if there is a way to incorporate "xdg-open" into the command without messing up the other two OSes.

My favorite Linux distribution is Raspbian Stretch on my Raspberry Pi 3B+ Because of the Raspberry Pi I finally started using Linux for the first time, strange thing is that I started coding 24 years ago and never had any practical usage for Linux... I did try Suse Linux once just to get somewhat familiar with it but at the time it wasn't for me until I got the Raspberry Pi. So now I do like Linux because its simplicity with programming in Python which I started to love but I wouldn't have a Linux machine as my main computer, I'm really a hardcore desktop gamer on the Windows platform kinda guy and I don't think that I would change that any time soon. Best regards, Ricardo Penders

Like you were talking about in the beginning of your video, you could just drop the USB and someone will find it and plug it in, but tell me why I would want to waste $45 just to through it on the ground and get one victim? You should try to make a cheaper type of USB Rubber Ducky for these types of things.

Hi, I've noticed that if you have more than one "input method" in a windows 10 machine, if you press Win+Space then the Operating System switch the keyboard language and consequently the keyboard layout. This may be a problem if the payload contains special characters like %£&£"!\

I use Fedora day to day, Debian as a testing (and for everything that I wouldn't run normally) distro in a VM, Kali Linux in a VM and Windows for games. But I've always admired Arch for its customizability and support. However, I refuse to say that Ubuntu is lame, although I dislike Unity. Ubuntu 12.04 was what got me into Linux in the first place.
