Me and my wife are about to go through a divorce that I don't want but am respecting her wanting one, she wants 50/50 custody of our children and doesn't want child support cause she says she knows I'm gonna continue to support them financially, I was wasn't sure that we could do that but this video helped, thank you!

This video gives us an actual better idea of how custody should be ordered. On day one of parents appearing in court, the judge is the most ignorant person in the room, without any knowledge of the parents, the children, or the facts. So every judge should order 50/50 custody and very little, if any, child support on a temporary basis pending a full trial. And during the pendency of the trial, if a parent demonstrates that they cannot abide by their 50% parenting time that can be used against them in a final custody decision. This is a much better solution than what many judges do, which is to rubber stamp the mother as primary custodial parent, in order to maximize the state's child support collections

As though the current system (automatic confirmation of primary parent to moms) is actually working/ in a child’s best interest

On the flip side, there are also mothers who demand primary custody because they know they can make a killing on child support, especially when the standard support order far exceeds the actual cost of raising a child. So bad behavior can go both ways.

the minimum i would accept is 50/50. i can't imagine only seeing my kids 4 days a month. that would destroy me and be unbelievably harmful to them.

Not wanting to pay child support is as valid a reason as any other reason to want 50/50. How can this piece of schitt attorney even pretend to know what best for someone else’s children?

What about if I have 50/50 custody but live in an RV and kids sleep every night at their mom's and visit 3 evenings/week and every other Saturday?

5050 is a constitutional right, and child support can only be ordered if one of the children on welfare. And the non custodial parent has to give permission for kids to be on welfare first. And Title IV-D is only in Federal Jurisdiction.

Unlike dads like me that acaully want more time with their son. Sleep him. Bath him. Take him out. Get home and he is there. Yeah we get away with child support if we get 50/50. But still got to pay more days of babysitter, more food, more clothes and daily expenses. Travels.. I mean maybe it's less or more but it's no like it's free. Just my case, my perspective as a dad that is active in his sons life.

I'm about to do this I want 50/50 . My daughter's mother told me she'll never put me on child support but honestly I just don't want to deal with her anymore. We call so much damage in both are life's, and I'm really trying to be a better man for my daughter. I do travel overseas for work , and work anywhere between 4 to 8 months of the year . I can get a coastwise job . But my goal is to work these next 5, 7 years all out make as much money as I can , and get a job on land for my baby . I completely cut her off . I buy what my daughter needs , and spend as much time as I can with her . But at the end of the day . I'm a dark Hispanic man , and my ex European Puerto Rican , and Caucasian she is pretty much white . When she starts screaming , and yelling because I don't want to do shit as a family , or spend time with her . She broke my heart, and for years I put up with her only making me miserable , and mistreating each other making it a super toxic environment for my daughter. I don't want that anymore. So this 50/50 custody sounds amazing to me .

Is there a way you could do half the year? With 50/50 custody ....
