How to clean shower that has yellow mold and soap scum. It was pretty bad!! In the past this shower required a lot of strong chemicals and hours of work. It was toxic. The whole bathroom had to be aired out. This is a tile shower (no glass). We used a steam cleaner and some other tools with NO CHEMICALS. What a relief plus it's so satisfying to see this shower clean up so well!!

I provide this service in my area and feel like you did a great job as far as you went. The putty knife wasn’t necessary as the wand should have enough scrubbing power to remove anything off the surface, using the tips and accessories you have. Also, the caulking really needed to be replaced by you or someone. That would have finished off the job properly.

When I saw it (she has only had her steam cleaner a week or so) I thought the same thing. I told her to try it though and we did a few short videos about it. Those worked so I said let's do the whole shower. I'm so pleased with how well it worked!

I use a spray called "Wet and Forget" shower. It is like magic and keeps u shower clean with out cleaning. It's like magic!

I cleaned my shower today and had the same gray stuff you had on your walls. That is actually residue from the black mold you cleaned off. After you remove the black stuff with the steamer, quickly follow up and wipe up the gray stuff with a rag. For some reason that residue won't come off with the steamer. Once I did that I sprayed some of that 30% vinegar on the walls and floor and just used a rag instead of the steamer. It worked fine and was quicker:))

I haven't cleaned my tub or shower in years! And they look like new! How often do you clean soap scum from the inside of your dish washer? How about from inside your washing machine? Correct, never. The best way to clean soap scum is never get it in the first place. Chunk all your bath soap and only use liquid soap. The main ingredient in bar soap is Sodium tallowate. Sodium tallowate is a true soap made by combining the fatty tissue (or tallow) of animals, such as cattle and sheep, with lye, typically sodium hydroxide". It's pure white animal fat that holds the soap in a clump. It sticks to the tile or tub and water will not run over it. Sits there and the water evaporates and leaves mineral deposits on the fat. Repeat a few times and you have "soap scum". Liquid soap or "detergent" holds oily skin residue in suspension and it washes everything away when you rinse. Just like your clothes or dish washer. Also an added benefit is that your drains will never clog up!!

Have you done a video on how to clean an oven? I have a Wolf oven with dark blue interior that has areas of black on the bottom. I never noticed it because the blue is so dark but it appears it’s been there a long time. I tried very hot water and mild dish soap with a rag and was able to get off some but not all. I assume using the rough side of a sponge isn’t recommended because the surface would get scratched. It has a self clean mode but when I used it a couple years ago it gave off a weird chemical smell that I don’t want to revisit. Any advice?

Yes I've done one with baking soda and vinegar. You can use a sharp razor blade that's not dry. Or a pumice stone but you'd want to test a small area to make extra sure if didn't damage the surface. They're all different. I've used this on several ovens. One was going to scratch so I used a Brillo pad. Even they can scratch. Honestly, Easy Off fume free is my go to on very tough stains. With the plastic wrap method. I'll put links to our videos...

Perhaps pre-spraying with some NATURAL cleaner might speed up the process. I say natural because we don’t want to inhale any more toxic fumes the steam is likely to produce.

I'm pretty sure this shower didn't work with anything more gentle than steam and scraping. If so, she would've done it.

But some natural enzymes like Kleen Free, spray your shower walls, then steam. You wont have to scrape. Great job!

I'm guessing that you will, or have, suffered negative health effects from this method? Aerosolized mold can be quite dangerous. Whether the spores are dead or alive. Please use caution.
