The late 80's and early 90's were the golden years for exotic Honda motorcycles. Thankfully there was the VFR Interceptor to bring them to the common man.

2:38 "With miles that are similar to what you find in a 4-wheeled vehicle." The established record for an RC36 comes from a reliable report from an English despatch rider (courier) from the early 2000's. He used his '90 VFR750 day in, day out for years as a work vehicle and got 416,000 miles out of it.... He then replaced the engine and got 442,000 miles out of the second engine. And all in the same frame and all from a 750cc V4 that will happily rev to 12K RPM. That's engineering integrity.

So about time they fixed the v4 Remember the vf750??? Shat cams like babies shit err shit. Unreliable piece of shit. The vf1000 wasnt any better. And btw, an engine that is in constant use, running all day suffers less wear overall. Its frequent start up and shut down that kills engines.
@aaronhughes4724

@@sugarnads Thats right. I know a mechanic that used to service the motorway police cars. Them cars used to run 20 hours a day and he said the engines had virtually no wear in the after hundreds of thousands of miles.

Over fifty years I’ve been fortunate enough to ride many bikes over many miles. In my not so humble opinion, the Honda VFR has one of the best internal combustion engines ever produced, it has character, reliability and - other than the cost of valve adjustments - isn’t ridiculously expensive. Once obtained, it’s a hard bike to get rid of and most who sell them, regret it. I certainly don’t regret keeping mine!

I want to purchase one and ship it to Africa. What should I do mechanically to lessen any repairs that may pop up. I'll probably only ride it 100 miles per week realistically.

This was one of the video´s that finally convinced my , to buy a RC36. This second winter with the C-19 crap , got me so frustrated and grumpy, that I was searching the net for all kinds of vehicles, just to bring change into my life come spring time. I even looked at choppers(!) like a Honda CMX450. I thought "maybe that is good for my nerves"... Yesterday I went into the garage and installed a fresh battery into my shiny black 1990 RC36 , that I´ve stored for 6 months and hit the button: bam...it was there , like it couldn´t wait. I drove around for 2 hours and it was like psychotherapy...What a perfect bike. The roar , the handling, the solidity due to the weight, makes it such an awesome cruiser. I used to spent 5 years racing on trackdays every other weekend all over Europe and mostly on Suzuki GSXR 1000´s with 170+HP. I drove them through the German countryside and went 300 on the autobahn for so long that it became almost boring. My car at that time was the famous Honda S2000, which I had a used MY00 first and a new one MY08 later. These cars are not outright fast, but they feel fast and drive in a very exiting manner. The sound of it , makes you feel like driving a full blown race car. Same thing with the RC36: It is not really a fast bike, but the way it rides creates so much confidence, that you can squeeze every performance out of it effortlessly, without having to be Valentino Rossi. On top of it, the noises it makes, gives you the impression of riding a Ducati Panigale...it really is a fascinating mixture.

Here in England I had a black one of this exact model. The fairing was great, even in rainy England. I stopped riding about five years ago after losing an eye. I owned the VFR for ten years. When I sold it there was over 100,000 miles on the clock, and still it was reliable and fun. Great machine

1-I have a VFR 800, love it. That white 750 is extremely beautiful. Love every viffer. 2-Not true that Ducati engines are unreliable. Maintenance intervals are more frequent, but the engines are long lasting if well mainteined. 3-Viffers are built like a tank, but the electric part is substandard. Connectors, rectifier, stator - every VFR owners knows that they are subject to frequent failures. Except for that, the machine is bulletproof.

I remember back in 83 when the VF750F Interceptor hit the showrooms in Canada. It's still my favourite style of Interceptor with the engine being on display instead of hidden away. However, I finally bought a 95 VFR750 about six years ago and it is absolutely superb. Some claim the 4th gen is the best motorcycle ever built. All thing considered I can't disagree. I wonder if sometime down the road of time remaining examples will be as sought after as Vincent Black Shadows.

My absolute dream bike. I wanted one soooo much when I was in my early 20s, but couldn't afford it. Now, years later... it will be mine! [begins search on autoscout24] Imagine how great that bike would look with GOLD wheels. Am I right? Awesome.

Ah, Ducati :) But yes, They're expensive and the money doesn't stop after the purchase of the bike. But the passion. I now ride a K1300S, a sports tour bike like the VFR. Had it for five and a half years now and racked up 110,000km. It has a long way to go :)

RC46 rocks!! Nothing ever beaten it....VFR800Fi 5th....no comparison, nothing matched it....not even today. 100000KM's....no problem at all, no loss of power.

Also one thing that owners don't like is hot frame and heat in the summer time.

It only took Honda 4 model years to fix the bad camshaft V4 bikes they built. Some engineering genius.
