Having sold over 300 BMW i3's we know exactly what things to check and mend before they go out for sale.
In this video, we look at Martin's personal 2015 BMW i3 (fully electric 60Ah), which despite being taken good care of and looking fantastic at the first glance, would have cost the new owner about £1.2k in repairs to bring it to the Wisely standard.
Not to mention, that's before taking into account the fact that all our cars come with a minimum of 6 months of warranty which brings additional value in the range of hundreds of pounds.

Another excellent video Martin. Yes a video on your detail products would be great. Was specifically interest in what you use on the Eucalyptus wood. Ordered a polisher and was interested in any differences given the “plastic” panels. Thanks!

Another great video Martin. It just goes to show how thorough a job that Wisely does in preparing their cars for sale. I guess many used car dealers just give the vehicles a superficial clean and then keep their fingers crossed that either morning goes wrong or is not noticed by the new owner. When can I bring my car in for a spick and span clean?

Another very interesting and informative video. A common theme with these cars seems to be expensive parts like suspension gaiters and air conditioning pumps. You don’t see these types of problems with Japanese cars. I have Hondas with huge mileages with no component failures at all. I do like the i3 though.

We actually think most of the parts are priced relatively fairly. It's the main dealer labour costs which really inflate the price of getting even simple things repaired.

Very informative video. Thank you for posting. In a prior video you had mentioned a common issue of the 12v plug in the armrest charger not functioning. I have that issue as the fuse for that charger immediately blows when I insert any attachment requiring power into that plug. Can you comment on likely cause of this problem (wires grounding?). Thank you.

Great video by the way .. all of the videos are great, I was hoping for some advice... my i3 rear windshield jets wont spray... i took the filter out of the washer fluid pump , but it was super clean, i was hoping that was the problem.. It doesnt seem to be leaking and the front jets work fine.. i can also hear the noise of the pump when trying to spray the rear jets.... just a trickle of washer fluid comes out sometimes... i dont see any washer fluid on the ground, im befuddled !!! Any advice you could offer would be immeasurable ...Thanks so much and thanks for the great videos/tips/tricks and advice. Wish i was in the UK lol...

Great Video thanks for sharing. My question to you is, I'm in the process of getting a used i3, between the years 2015 thru 2017. I know the 2017 has the better range but for me it will mainly be a city car ( i live in chicago) and with the chip shortage use car prices has gone up 35% on average. In your opinion which year of the i3 do you prefer?

@wiselyauto 2 жыл бұрын
An i3 with the middle 94Ah battery will obviously give you more range. Whether that is worth the extra cost is only up to you. If you have a second car and will manage with the 60Ah, it's still a great car for less money. We would recommend checking the ev-databse website if you want to see a more detailed breakdown of the ranges for each of the variants in different conditions: ev-database.uk/car/1004/BMW-i3-60-Ah

Great video man! Im also a 60ah i3 owner and one thing i always come across is the different charger ports. Do all 60ah models come with the rapid charger? Mine only has a the type 2 which is fine but can be a little annoying when doing motorway journeys. Google says all i3's have the rapid port which got me thinking about mine not having it?
@colinharvey1049

The 60ah model had rapid as option so many only have the type 2 mennekes port with no DC below.

As an i3 owner (69 plate 120Ah BEV) I enjoy your videos very much. I notice that shredded front shock gators is a regular problem. Considering this is not a new technology unique to an EV, I am very disappointed that BMW did not get this right, do you know if treating these gators with a rubber preserver would improve their service life?
@wiselyauto
@wiselyauto 2 жыл бұрын
It is true that it is a very common issue and is one of the first technical items we look at when we get cars in (it’s not exclusive to the i3 though). There are many aftermarket products which claim to help with prolonging the life of seals and other rubber components. They definitely don’t make the situation worse but remember that you may need to keep reapplying the product for it to have a considerable effect. Given how cheap the gaiters themselves are, we would just recommend budgeting for getting them swapped every 3 to 4 years (no need to go to a main dealer, it’s a job which can be done by any good mechanic).

I am impressed with these videos. Would Wiseley Automotive, if not endorsing the RAC Warranty, consider it a wise choice? I am considering buying a used BMW i3. Unfortunately I live hundreds of miles from London. Simply on the strength of their videos they would be my first port of call if that was practical.
