I've had an occasion to use my shop compressor to blow out motors that had a glitchy gritty feel. Tiny pieces of sand had gotten into 2 motors somehow. I even have the props off and blow air through the motors with the drone running. I find this to be the ultimate clean for the motors. I did this with an Evo 2P and never had an issue with it afterward. It's the equivalent of lubing the e-motors. It wouldn't hurt to spray some electronics cleaner in the motors too but only if there's a reason to.

Is buying a old model drone maybe from several years ago a good idea? Or should I stick to something relatively newer?

It’s proportional to what your hoping to accomplish and what features your looking for in a drone. Remember the Mavic 3 released in November 2021 and that is a pretty new platform relatively speaking. Some people can drop 2K on a drone and. It think much of it while others may not be able to save enough for a $2,000 drone. I will say there can be a lot of savings found in the used drone market, that much is for certain.

I buy them from offer up all the time,and when I buy from ebay I only buy those they have a 30 day return. If they don't have a 30 return period, don't not buy.
