Get yourself a copy of the Dr. Prius app. (free at Google Play) Then Get the OBD2 bluetooth adapter for it (about $12 at Amazon). This will allow you to "see" the condition of the HV battery pack in real time. Then you want to really look at that old car for water leaks, corrosion, wheel bearing noise, DTC codes of any kind. If the computer shows no codes then make sure someone had not just erased the codes. Look to see that the emission system is in "ready mode." If it is not then someone erased the codes and you will need to go on a drive cycle to restore what was once there. This will take about 100 miles driving. Just a few tips from someone who has been snookered a few times over the decades. lol

usama ahmad running on the battery and the speed it can run off the battery depends on a number of factors. If you force it into EV mode you can push it a little harder to about 50kmh before the petrol engine kicks in. But when the battery is full and you accelerated slowly, it can drive on electricity much higher than 50kmh. I have personally gotten to about 100kmh with a full battery on a slight downhill. Also. Even if you are going 130kmh or maybe even higher, the car can run off of electricity alone on a slight downhill or when you get strong wind from behind. It all depends. But they are great cars. I have a 2007 and its just amazing.

Stay out of EV mode as much as you can in those old hybrids. The cells are not in that good a condition anymore and will likely overheat and maybe burn.

Brandon McKenzie Brandon. You are absolutely right. Honda is a Pioneer in Hybrid engine but Toyota redesign it and make it more excellent and reliable. So who want to buy an used Honda Hybrid, i recommend Don't buy it.

One suggestion. If you buy a Lexus Ct200h which is similar to prius design but adding more luxury stuf. So if you look for economical deal, get a prius because parts and services on ct200h is 3 times more expensive than a prius though thwy share all parts and most components beside prius save more gas and faster. Ct200h may be more comfortable in ride that is all if you want a ct200h.

I would not recommend a early Honda Hybrid to anyone who does not like working on hybrids. Many issues with the HV system in those early cars.

Oh! and the CVT transmission is garbage and prone to eating itself.

@@Lynnsayshi Still shopping huh? Proceed with care. In my opinion all the second gen Honda hybrids are junk designs. 2004-2010. Every 6 years they seemed to make the cars more expensive to fix and worse in reliability as far as the hybrid parts went. I have had a 2003 for years and it is a love hate relationship for sure. You could GIVE me a 2007 without me throwing it back to you. If you want something that is not (hopefully) going to empty your bank account look at the 3rd Gen toyota hybrids. That's 2012 to present.
