This shape of Sprinter was only available with a 2.3 and a 2.9l diesel engine. It was the Volkswagon Lt that was available with the 2.5 and 2.8l diesel engines.

These engines are very reliable and don't use much fuel. Rust is a big problem. Everything rusts. The body, the chassis, brakelines, the doors. The turbo's don't break fast like in modern vans. The 312d is also fast. 160km/h no problem. Rust prevention and keeping it away is the big problem. Don't think 'i'll do it the next year' because it will rot a few cm every winter... Put some rust stopper in the beams, or just old motor oil, anything. Just keep the whole underside in grease or some tar-like product. Also never use brass nuts or strange metals anywhere because it accelerates the rust. The engine is easy to work on and not much electronics. Put alot of grease on the brake system under the car in the back. These vans are all +17 years old now so to find a good one is not easy. The good ones with little rust even go up in price lately because there are a lot of people who are very disappointed about the high maintenance costs of more modern vans. Yes, rust sucks but having all sorts of engine and electronic problems usually costs much more. Also, vans are still made of the cheapest steel which is designed to only last for the economic lifespan of 5-10 years.... I rent out my 310d and customers sometimes drive 1500km in a weekend and they are mostly surprised how well it drives. They are also happy with the fuel usage of just 1 liter on 10 or 11km.

I've just bought a poverty spec 2001 218d sprinter but with just 70,000m on it with a ridiculously clean interior I couldn't help myself however rust is present, surprise surprise! but Because the rest of the van is mint ill get the the whole bodywork re sorted

Was this filmed in 2014? Judging by the second hand price of the van at 10k it must have been filmed in early the 2000’s so making the van 3 years old or so . . .

My LT 35 has 260K miles on the clock, still going strong. I had Renault Master panel van, 2009 and at 60K engine blew. Don't know why

I like these vand and the 410d good van the engine is a 5clynder 2.9. 3.0 and 3.1 turbo the man don't tell anyone about that

there is no 2.5 and 2.8 engines... thoes are on Vw Lt vans. mercedes has a 2.3 80hp(308cdi) and a 2.9 120hp(312cdi)
