Play&Share i don't know if that statement about daigo is accurate, I mean, he might be able to play with other characters but his top level characters(the ones he have used i. tournaments and won) are ryu and e. Ryu. Now with snake, the guy have skills, good set of fundamentals and footsies, zangief should be enough for snake if it weren't because of all that unfair advantage other characters such as ken, sagat or e.ryu have over him. Snake was forced to pick another character. This also shows how unbalanced ultra street fighter is. How come snake with a half mastered e. Ryu blow away the best sagat in the world in his e. Ryi debut match? Is that e. Ryu is so good? Is it snake skills? Is it the character? Why only certain characters are allowed to see competitive play?

Play&Share That's why Daigo dominated all tournaments with his Yun when AE came out. Oh wait he didn't because his Yun was not up to snuff even after months and months of training and having super fancy Genei Jin combos he still lost against the really good players because he missed that Shoryuken invincibility, defensive fireball game and his positioning was often more than off. I like Daigo but his game isn't perfect. On the other hand snake eyes just showed that he has a pocket eRyu that is good enough to kill Bonchan, one of Japans top players if you have forgotten that. And before you say eRyu is S-Tier - Yun was S-Tier as well.

***** At a competitive level, considering character frequency, Sagat is Zangief's worst matchup. We all knew Snake had the patience and footsies to play Evil Ryu, but the execution? Even Daigo was dropping combos when he took his "week old" Evil Ryu to tournaments.

死生 Honestly, SnakeEyez has the execution. Sure, you may not need buttery links and combos with Zangief, but you sure as shit need to be precise with your inputs. I think once Snake practices with E.Ryu more, and the more complex combos become muscle memory I don't think he'll have too much trouble hitting them consistently. But yeah, his fundamentals and spacing are insanely good, even on E.Ryu. With more practice he has the potential to outclass Daigo perhaps.

I always said that snake loses with zangief because zangief have been nerfed too much. I know snake has a good deal of skills

E-Ryu gets results especially in better match ups. It was right for Snake Ears to pick the glass cannon over the guy he mains that got one of his key tools nerfed.

It's actually not a week old e.ryu he's been using evil ryu for a couple years now. just hasn't rocked him in tournamanets much. I also wouldnt say convincingly it went to final round and he basically just abused eryu. regardless of that he won and congrats to him. That is what you need to do when you have a bad match learn a counterpick. Evil ryu beats sagat so its a wise choice. Bonchan needed to play less respectful because he got put into the 50/50 counterhit throw game way too much.

Zangief was also crippled in ultra.

British Tea Daigo improved his E.Ryu game a lot and I honestly think he's slightly better than Sako right now. I'm a huge fan of both players!

Ark_rf21 To fully unleash the power of ERyu you need to be spot on w/ his combos. If you drop one it could be costly. Ryu OTOH is easier to pick up and safer to use so he requires less effort to master. Not gonna be dominant for Snake Eyes but enough to navigate through bad match-up.

ruizhernandeztrustfi Nah, he needs to keep both, i mean how many times have some of the strongest players seems to be scared from Snake Eyez Gief, you just see them making mistakes and just felt into every Zangief set up...but now if he keeps both, he will also be able to deal with Momochi's Ken, Luffy's Rose and some others frustrating Zangief matches...well at least to some degree.

I disagree, I beleive that a game should be balance so that the real factor for victory between players is their skill and experience with a character not the advantage some characters have over others, if not why bother having a huge roster of characters if only a few will be played? Why bother spending time in any other character if you will never overcome your bad matchups? I'm not asking for copy paste characters or that everyone is good. Im asking for each character to have at least one tool to deal with impossible matchups. Whats is going to happen is that we will see a rise in competitive e. Ryus until he gets nerfed.
