You need a drill that takes SDS bits. An "SDS" drill will have a hammer function and be more powerful than most standard drills. Probably one of the cheapest is the Harbor Freight Bauer at 79.99 (around $64 if you use a 20% off coupon). You might be able to rent a drill from a local tool rental center (including Home Depot). I would call around for pricing. If you have the money to spend or are going to drill a lot of holes, it would probably be best to buy something name brand like a Bosch, Milwaukee, DeWalt, etc...

I also do hvac, we use a Bryant hammer drill from harbor freight and it gets the job done no problem.

Mine just had a variable speed trigger.

Unfortunately I don't have a wall like that to test it on. I'm guessing it would work but it might be a pain chiseling out the core every few inches. I would probably use a long masonry bit to drill all the way through the foundation. Then use this bit to come in from both sides, meeting in the middle.

Rent a Hilti D-150 with an 18" coring bit. Concrete will spit these cheap bits out. Cinder block and brick this set isnt bad for a few holes

I would expect it to last longer too. What are you cutting into? Did the teeth get dull or break?

Water cool the bit while drilling. Helps a lot and dont use pressure let the hammer mode hits do the chipping and drilling progress. Pressure will grind down the teeth faster. You want to chip away the concrete with hits not spin it with grinding as you would with wood.

Is it jammed in the hole? If so, you can usually tap it on the side to loosen it.

It's funny. I have had people tell be it should be on and others say it should be off. I made a more recent video where I drilled through a cinder block with this hole saw. I had hammer off on it. You need hammer action on with TCT hole cutters and hammer off with diamond core cutters, they cut through very differently from each other.

Water is commonly used with diamond hole saws to cool them and remove debris. I don't think it is used as often with carbide. Some newer drills are incorporating vacuums to suck up the dust. This wouldn't be needed if water were used (but water is messy). This hole saw didn't get very hot. I'm guessing the thick metal acts as a heatsink.
