This week I'm following on from last week's episode on How to Make a Scrying Mirror, with how to use one within your own practice.
There are so many different ways of using a scrying mirror, I couldn't cover everything out there but I wanted to focus on the ways I use scrying mirrors and other options that may be interesting to those looking into familiar/servitor/ancestor work as well as automatic writing.
Have you ever made a scrying mirror and how do you use one if you include one in your own practice?

I've found a couple things help me with this. One is going on a short walk or run before, it helps me be in my body without being fidgety. I've also found two ways that work well. One is having a candle or very low light behind my mirror, crystal ball ect. The other is having my mirror laying flat on a table or the floor. With this I think if it more like a hole I let my consciousness fall into. This one doesn't even need to be done with a reflective surface. Both these feel completely different for me. I love watching this kind of video because I always learn something new. Thank you

I have an obsidian mirror about the same size as yours, but I prefer to work with my black obsidian sphere. It's a kind of three dimensional black mirror. I use it with a candle by night. I also have a black tourmaline sphere. I use a clear quartz sphere for scrying by day. It took me six weeks to learn to scry. I find it very liberating because I rely entirely on myself, my intuition, and my psychic gifts, without being guided by the 'meanings' of cards, bones, runes or palms.

Hi Hearth! As per your prompt, I would like to explain my favourite (and easiest/cheapest) technique to divination. But first, I'd like to point out that I use multiple forms on specific days: Sundays are Tarot reading days; Wednesdays are pendulum days; and Saturdays are for the technique I will discuss here. My technique is the most basic possible. I close my eyes with the TV and phone turned off, and passively observe the images and colours that take form. Some may call it meditation, lucid dreaming or astral projection based on what I experience in that moment, but the crux is that I simply unplug from the world and pay attention to what is happening in my mind. As you mentioned in this video, I have a notebook and pen by my side. I also invite Ođin and Apollo to assist me, if they care to do so, and I allow my mind to wander. Any time I'm pulled out of my trance, by a sudden noise or other distraction, I jot down what I remember in as much detail as possible. For me, I cannot allow myself to drift into a trance state while consciously writing, so for those who have that ability, I'm a little jealous😅. I often will lull myself back into a trance-like state multiple times, as I have jumpy cats and live in a somewhat noisy environment. Each little nap trance will often have its own distinct themes and events, much like tarot cards, and I interpret them as both individuals and part of a whole. After feeling centred and fulfilled, I dissect the parts by colours, objects, animals, settings, lighting, and vibes/emotions (amongst others), and use my trusty dream dictionary to cross-reference my personal interpretations with what I can find in the book. This allows me the 1) expand my understanding of every aspect of the dream 2) juxtapose different interpretations of my dreams 3) ruminate on various aspects of the dream 4) find new insights that may not have initially occurred to me, but shed light upon an issue of my waking life that may have been affecting me subconsciously. For instance, dreaming of sitting a certain type of library may harken to particular sensibilities. The colour and age of the books may hold significance. The lighting and colour of the room and furniture are important. The clarity of the writing denotes the significance of the book, whether it's a sign to seek out a specific tome or if it's symbolic of another theme. Your perspective, whether in 1st person POV, 3rd person or omniscient can give clues to your attachment to 'self'. And if there are other people; how do they interact with you, how many people are there, and how detailed were their features and apparel all hold significance. Dream dictionaries can be a wealth of knowledge for delving beyond the surface level. I love watching your videos. If I happened to have inspired you to try something new or interpret things differently, then I'm glad. Have a nice day😊

I use wood i.e. tables with grain patterns (also known to me as simply "tabling") and sometimes my own clothing that i'm wearing such as my own blue jeans patterns that I may be wearing at the time. Sometimes it's anything with random subtle patterns on them of shadow, color or texture (I find this works really well when your pressed for time or have some distractions or even danger present) or even completely blank (when you have more time, less distractions, and no danger present), like walls, ceilings, floors, rocks, dirt, sand, stone with grain patterns, even with my eyes closed the back of my eyelids, eyes open staring off and the blue sky (these days less by use of clouds as scrying). Also, I find good health is important such as adequate hydration, food sustainance, low body fat, outstanding diet, athletic ability, mental well-being and outstanding physical fitness, outstanding mental fitness and my body that I treat as a well tuned temple is very important in the quality of the scrying. The point is I've found that the medium of my choosing can vary and I don't need to have a mirror or object I work with (although it is really nice to have), what I'm am seen wearing or even a blank everyday thing, surface or seemingly blank when I stare into it in my environment can become my "table", "tabling", "scrying" medium. This also helps when ppl aren't necessary friendly to witches like myself or know that I'm a witch and it allows me access to scying medium anywhere without being noticed. 😁😎💚💚💚💚

For reference I've also been known to scry with nature it self, the plants, the animals, the way the wind blows, the very energy of the Earth as well by observation, sensing and knowing it's very meaningful messages in a connected way to each expression of life and what it is trying to tell me about the world around me and the needs of those in it.

my opinion is that scrying is not a type of divination but is a method of meditation, at first when scrying your thoughts will get in the way of seeing forward, 1st learn to vividly see your inner dialogue in the mirror. 2nd learn to manipulate your inner dialogue "mental images" in such a way to move forward instead of obstructing/stopping/distracting you. in time with consistent practice you will start "seeing past" your thoughts/mental images; this is when scrying can be a method of divination, but it can also be a method of journeying and evo/invocation. i would personally advice using a rattle while scrying, but rhythmic breathing/mantras, drumming work as well.

I identify as a Pagan, so Christianity doesn't fall into my belief system 😊 In regards to communication, scrying is commonly used for connecting with our subconscious minds, as well as with the spirits of ancestors, guides, familiars, servitors and other spirits that reside around us both human and not.

I've just purchased a little scrying mirror (large fobwatch size) as a prop for a Discworld cosplay, but a friend of mine over in the States went to the trouble of creating a scrying mirror especially for me and I'm really hoping I can find a quiet time without people bothering me to learn to use it (I was able to do this quite naturally as a child, but I haven't done it for decades now). I'm just wondering: am I better off removing my glasses so that it's easier for me to unfocus my eyes, or should I leave them on? I didn't wear glasses as a kid, so this was never an issue!
