I actually shot my AR and forgot my hearing protection. I had my AirPods in and it kinda hurt the first time but not really the second time. I said the same thing in my head lol

Still won't work. Active noise cancelling is designed to removed ambient regular background noise. Not sudden irregular loud noises.

Active noise canceling won't do anything, although usually buds with ANC also have better passive noise canceling, which will help to block out sound. Standard airpods don't have great passive noise canceling. The pros would probably do a lot better as they have rubber tips that sit in the ear similar to an ear plug.

Please try it with AirPods Pro noise cancellation. I have them but haven’t got a chance to test them out yet. I think it will silence the shot somewhat but it could also overload the system and amplify it I hope it doesn’t do that 😬

I had to use my Jabra Elite 75t headphones one day my friends and I decided to shoot without ear protection available. They did a pretty decent job at making it tolerable, the noise cancellation did make a difference even thought it had a bit of crackling sound. They still work perfectly to this day though, I just wouldn’t recommend it to use it too long

Try the pro’s they mold in the ear and have better noise canceling, it gets the job done but not as good as standard ear protection

AirPod pros Gen 2 and 3 have noise cancellation. Guarantee it would help with that. Either way, not advised to use AirPods for ear protection. Actual ear protective ear muffs are much cheaper anyways.

It stands for "noise reduction rating." It's the standard measurement scale/rating used to determine the effectiveness of hearing protection devices. The ear protective muffs you mention would have a decibel rating on them, indicating them as NRR certified

Ive never touched a gun or heard one, is it THAT loud it hurts your ears? Then how come cops with literal rifles dont use them? (Or do they?) Or literally anyone really, ive seen many videos of people shooting guns without ear protection and they seemed fine. I'm super confused.
