Using Breakpoints for MASSIVE Upgrades Diablo 4 - Everything you need to know about the Blacksmith

This guide helps Diablo 4 players be able to get the most out of the blacksmith by maximizing the returns on the upgraded items and their affixes and stats. It is important that we don't waste these great rolls with the stats we need because we can use them to upgrade through item power breakpoints for a chance to get higher rolls on our items. This applies to any rare, legendary, or unique that is near a breakpoint. This can be applied to Unique items that we won't find until the third tier of difficulty called Nightmare. The blacksmith can be used throughout the leveling journey in Diablo 4 to empower new items and get specific rerolls with guaranteed same stats after the reroll that we find from all of the dungeons we are running throughout the diablo IV leveling experience and into end game Diablo IV. Make sure that you don't waste these items.

Ive found this out awhile ago and it has tremendously helped me gear up. Most of my gears are from rares upgrading & converting to legendary with aspect.

Same here, I think all of my pieces came from a rare base or I imprinted a more desirable aspect instead. I'm a fan of this system so far and I hope they keep adding to it

Be advised the re-rolled stats could end up worse than the original values. I had a rare 2H mace and one of the stats was +15% damage to poisoned enemies. It re-rolled to 14.3%. Not that big of a change but just know that it can happen.

Which is the dumbest and most unfun thing ever. Blizzard needs to make it so, at worst, the stat just has zero growth, because a stat getting worse when upgrading is the most session vibe ruining feeling I've felt in a long time.

It's good that you have a video for the codex and aspect system, because in this video you say "aspect" out loud, but you point to and use the "codex" portion of the window, and that could be confusing to a beginner.

Can you share the build you're using in this video? I just got my Barbarian to level 50, and he's in WT3 now. I've been using a Lunging Strike/Rend/Death Blow build. I like it alright, but I'm thinking maybe there's something better to try. A HoTA build might be fun.

i have a question. can u imprint an aspect on an item that already has an imprinted aspect. thanks

Yes you can. You just can't use aspects again because they are consumed. But the item can have the aspect changed multiple times

Ya, if you get a legendary drop and you remove that aspect from it at the occultist, and then put it on another legendary, it's a one time use, so if you find another gear upgrade and you want that same legendary aspect on it, you will have to go out and farm drops until you get the legendary with that same aspect. Codex's you can do over and over, but aspects you remove and imprint are just one time, on one gear item.

On another note, I know you can make a Sacred item Ancestral by imprinting an Ancestral affix on it. In my mind, this would have a benefit in the form of enhanced affix ranges, etc. But in practice, I've found it to have no value whatsoever. Am I missing something important?

I haven't played sorc but there should be some balance changes before the start of the season. Hopefully they can get some buffs if it isn't doing well

Bliz nerfed this to some extent. Rings for example if you upgrade from Sacred to Ancest your Crit chance roll won’t get to 7.5%, it maxes at like 6ish then decreases a bit. It’s mostly not worth it now maybe except for a few rare perfect rolls. Wasted a lot of gold testing.

This one is for the Blacksmith. Occultist will help with putting the legendary affixes on your gear and the Alchemist is for potions

Yo Linus is a pretty good dude. But your video pretty much sums up everything I say to myself about his "crew" there has definitely been a change lately it was only a matter of time before someone came out reeeeeeeeeing. You can, 725+ will drop mostly level 70+

Correct me if I'm wrong, but ancestral items are all above 725, so this is not worth worrying about at all once you're in T4.

That is a good point, they do tend to fall at or above the last breakpoint so usually they will be at their max when you find ancestral. It really makes a difference upgrading a sacred piece past the threshold though. It makes the jump from World Tier III to World Tier IV much smoother

Ancestrals can drop in the 680 range and Sacreds can drop above 720.
