Hi Ryan, I hate saying this. I have both the Benchdogs and the Bangood versions. In my opinion the Bangood version is better. I don’t bother with the rods for calibration, just do multiple cuts to dial them in. Also the dowelling jig is fantastic, especially if you buy both parts of it. Poor man’s Domino!😂

Hi Ryan, Greetings from across the pond! I want to thank you for your videos on review, assembling and calibration of the parallel guides. Based on those videos, I ordered a set of guides and received them recently. There were no instructions included. I watched your videos several times and was able to get the guides assembled and successfully calibrated. Just need to watch the last video on thin rips and I will be all set! Could not have done it without you mate!

Hi Ryan, I get the calibration dialled in by clamping the square down to my workbench, using 20 mm dogholes. This way, your reference point, the square, is fixed and cannot move. Works bang on each and every time! I fought with them, to begin with, and using this method, the calibration is quick and accurate! Cheers mate!

@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop I did find that where the T-track bar attaches to the head of the bar with the two large Philips screws was too tight to slide onto my (Makita) rail. It seemed silly to have to loosen the two Philips screw as AND the two set screws and then retighten them so I made a 0.5mm shim (I 3D printed it because I could but lots of ways to do it) so now it slides onto the track firmly but I’m not going to bugger those Philips screws constantly tightening them. I saw a Woodpeckers video where someone complained about the same thing.

Love your work, during calibration, am wondering what the purpose of having the arrow closest to the track lined up, as it looks like only the rear flip down gadget actually sets the position of the rod? Maybe it’s got something to do with cutting widths narrower that this type setup will allow. Would love to see a video on cutting narrower than this type setup allows.

I have just had a play with mine ( came last week ). Calibrated from the 371mm mark ( 0 on side scale ) thin rip was within 0.3mm. took the rods out set scale to 300 but rip was 301.5 ( as best as my eyes could make out. After scratching my head for a while, it turns out the thickness of the stop is just less than 18mm so 371+18mm = 389mm. Rod length from end of plastic cap to inside of metal end = 390.5mm , 1.5mm out ( same size as some m6 SS washers I have ) . The washer went between the back of the stop and the metal cap. The only other way would be to trim the end of the plastic or drill the clearance hole in the plastic by 1.5mm.

They're down to £86 as I speak (10th Jan) but now there's no option to add tariff insurance. I just spent an hour on their chat speaking to two people who obviously learned English from the back of a cornflakes packet. I've heard the Govt are cracking down on foreign imports and the honeymoon period on imports ended 1st Jan 2022 (last week). I'm not going to take the chance. There's a reason they've removed the tariff insurance option for the UK. Edit: I took the chance 🤣. Using an online duty calculator it said I might have to pay a total of £107.78. Which is still a good deal. It added £17.97 VAT but it said on the Banggood site VAT was already included. Not sure if that's Chinese VAT or ours in the UK. But worth the chance at £107.

Hi Ryan, When you first calibrated the system you moved it forward 2/3mm to make up the difference from splinter guard to the rods. Made the cut then had to reduce it by 2/3mm because it was 302mm not 300mm. Are the rods slightly out or where the triangles on the scale something to do with the problem or was it not pushed in to the housing properly.

@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop on same subject, I wish there was someone whom offered a calibration service, taken my festool plunge saw, it doesn't feel like it cuts at 90 degrees no matter how much I fiddle with the grub screw,

About the "buying abroad", I really would like to see a cost breakdown of a similar tool by one of the real brands. I can't fathom why they should be 4x more expensive, or maybe that's just me being ignorant.

I dont understand it tbh, the woodpeckers are just sooo expensive for what are a few pieces of machined ali
@qaszim2012

It's not ignorance, more lack of understanding. Take UK tools, screw it take your workshop, (guessing you have a workspace) Build a cabinet, now due to cost of living, tax ect. Calculate the price of a single cabinet! Bet you after you factor in price of ply (£40-£120 depending on type) time put into build (8 hours start to finish including finishing and time between as space is money) Now that cabinet you have just made has gone just cost £120 at the very least not including consumables. Then out of that you now pay, tax, rent, electric, insurance ohh and a wage. Yes bigger companies have a bigger setup so costs are lower but principle is still the same. Should they be cheaper, yeah I wish they were. But I understand why they ain't cheap and it ain't really there fault. Will I buy from banggood, pumping more money out of my local economy into the international economy worse ing the situation. ?? Yeah, as I'm looking for a deal like everyone else and I ain't made of money. But I acknowledge that I'm part of the issue causing the prices to go higher. As the more money that leaves the UK is less money in local businesses pockets.

Do you have to calibrate every time you used it? Or can you put it away in the foam ones it is calibrated?

I just got these and I really like them but the part that slides into the track and attaches to the head part is very loose. there's a bump that aligns with the slot in the track but it's too tall for my track. I had to sand mine down a but so it would make a tight connection, I also think my calibration rods are about 1/8" too long so I have to compensate for that. Other then that it works very well. I'll a little worried about the screws being too soft and the Phillips head will strip out over time

Hello apologies this message was held back by KZfaq! They may need a little tweaking as they don't fit every saw brand. I have makita and had no problems. Just buy new screw. Think I bought some off ebay a bag of 20 and hex head too, just a few quid.

I don't really understand why you calibrated it at first to get it dialed in parallel, then calibrated it manually by hand to get the measurement dialed in. Surely the latter step would have undone the paralellisation you did in the first step, as you basically did it by eye.
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop 2 жыл бұрын
I used the measurement on the t track on moved it exactly 2mm to get it perfect. Nothing wrong with this way 👍

@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop that's kind of my point though. Moving it 2mm by eye is hard to do accurately. Especially if you have to do it twice.

There is an import insurance option as you buy the product, just simply check the box. Its not alot of money usually around £1. I always just pay that to cover myself and not had any problems just yet

Hi, based on the recommendation of this channel I bought the rails, only to find out that they are not compatible with the Festool track. Please could you publicise this for other readers? In order to find other people with this problem, you have to dig through the Banggood reviews with the keyword "Festool". kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l8-Pnsibr96RlKM.html
