Greetings from Chico! Been watching you obsessively since being in quarantine & now following you on all formats. Woke up at 3:30 recently, unable to sleep, so I binge-watched your vids for about 4 hours, stalked your insta, then painted the most beautiful piece in my portfolio. Thank you for the inspiration - you're ridiculously talented!

Been watching for a bit, going to try resin molds today, have used hot glue gun, not bad, different caulks...the cheapest is best but 3 to 4 day dry time, didn't care for the expensive store molding clay, after your video I will try out my resin. I practice a lot of things on those $5 GD wooden boxed....can't wait for a surf prep...maybe for Xmas, still working on getting my studio together. I used to make things out of the water/salt/flour mix....might try that next time.

Morning! I have a quick question re: resin which is all I use for moulds :) Once the moulds are done and set aside in a box can they be moulded, shaped or will they always remain solid ? What technique or trick can be used to manipulate the mould once hardened....IF this is even possible ! Thanks for all the fabulous videos! You rock !

Brandy- I love your work and your videos are so helpful! Thank you for the time you put in for us! Three questions: 1. How do you pour precisely to get into the intricate moulds? I'm using Hollybrook Ironworks. 2. How do you clean up castings if you overflow? 3. How do you save castings if you screw up the mix and they form but have some sticky, uncured resin on them? Thank you!

1. I prefer to under pour than over pour, drizzle slowly from a spout at the end, use a pin or toothpick to push into details 2. Can use a pair of nail scissors to cut away excess 3. Can use mineral spirits to clean them, but I usually consider those a loss
@julietmurphy8637

@@BrushedbyBrandy Thank you! Pour spout... Game changer! I soaked them in Dawn dish soap and hot water and scrubbed with a nail brush, picked out the remaining bits with a toothpick. Moulds and castings saved.

I just found your video and I’m a beginner. 😊 Why is my resin setting up before I pour it? I know you only have a small time frame but it’s hard before I get it in mold. Thanks for your response. 😊
@BrushedbyBrandy
@BrushedbyBrandy Жыл бұрын
It definitely sets up fast. Your .ix being slightly off can impact it. It's a heat reaction, so temperature matters. Older resin sets up differently. I'd say try mixing smaller batches and just stir 30 seconds and get it poured quickly

I love this… I am ready to play with Resin! A cupful questions… is there any specific paint that works well with the resin molds and how well do they hold up with Paint like if I want to use a chalk paint?
@BrushedbyBrandy

I usually paint right over them. You can use a primer if they'll get a lot of rubbing

I recently bought this casting resin. Used it for the first time today. When I removed the casted pieces after they cured. I immediately noticed there were many, very noticeable bubble holes on the surface and edges of the castings. How do I stop these bubble holes from happening?
@BrushedbyBrandy
@BrushedbyBrandy Жыл бұрын
Temperature is very Important with resin, it's a thermal reaction. Check the dates on your containers too. Could also be a moisture issue, water can cause bubbling
