Great way to start a fire!🔥 I made this incense. It burned so fast & was popping pieces of hot coal here & there. Glad I found the pieces before they burned holes into my table & floor

Hello! I read further down this thread that you, personally, were going to try to use activated charcoal for this formula. I'm wondering if you've tried it yet? Thank you!

Does the amount of scent matter? Or the size of the cone? I followed your instructions to the letter, but only a little bit of the oil. I then made them into cones, but they still die after a few minutes. Plus i made my own powderd charcoal by hand.

Great and informative video! I have a question I was hoping you could help with - I've made some really good joss stick formulations using about 20% joss powder as the wood binder, a pinch of guar powder (to strengthen the sicks), and then botanicals, barks, sages, etc. It burns consistently and doesn't go out - but my problem is, my sticks give off a LOT of smoke. Will sprinkling in like 10-15% charcoal (along with the joss) help reduce some of the smoke? I'm not looking for completely smokeless, just looking to decrease the smoke by like 40%. Any tips? Your channel is the best, thank you for being so helpful and thorough!!!
@IncenseDragon
@IncenseDragon 2 ай бұрын
The charcoal would likely help reduce the smoke, but I would also look at your ingredients to make certain everything is 100% dry. Water in your ingredients, especially resins, will create more smoke. Let me know how your experiments work out. Thank you for watching!
@YoDannyB
@YoDannyB 2 ай бұрын
@@IncenseDragon I tried adding activated charcoal to my mixture at around 5% ratio and it cut the smoke by about a 25%. Going to play around with adding a 10% and a 15% ratio and see what happens. Thanks for the tips!

Hi, and thanks for all your videos. I have a question, I tried that recipe : 2 Tbsp charcoal (mine is activated),1 Tbsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp xanthan gum, 1 1/3 Tbsp water. The problem is that I can't burn my cones... just try again this afternoon without the xanthan gum, I'll see in a few days... Have you an idea what my cones don't burn? thanks, Lu.

Try reducing the binder or increasing the amount of charcoal. Sounds like it's overbound.

Any chance would you know how to make Paper Incense. (Trying to do deep research before I make any. Going for no scent and low smoke. One video I seen said to use salt peter. But trying to do my research to figure out what to use. Which brought me here.)

I have a wood burning stove - can I use charcoal from that - or even the ash left over?
@IncenseDragon
@IncenseDragon 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, to both questions, however, the two are used very differently. You can use the charcoal in incense blends, but you wouldn't want to use ash that way. The ash can be sifted and then used to fill your censer.

Is xanthan gum harmful to health? Xanthan gum is safe when up to 15 grams per day are taken. It can cause some side effects such as intestinal gas (flatulence) and bloating. People who are exposed to xanthan gum powder might experience flu-like symptoms, nose and throat irritation, and lung problems.11-Jun-2021

@IncenseDragon

I'm not aware of mineral charcoal. Perhaps you mean coal? I don't think you would want to use coal. The charcoal I use is made from wood or bramble.

Why does my activated charcoal so sticky even before I put in any form of binder? A very small amount of water and it's veeery sticky and tar-like.

I can't say. I haven't ever worked with activated charcoal, but I do have some on its way to me so I can experiment. You might try adding a bit more water and see if it improves, but my experience is that charcoal can be very sticky.

hi there! i tried this recipe and it's really easy to make! thanks very much! now this may be my EO blend but I found there was not much scent at all (I used 8 drops). Do you think I can double the amount of EO without compromising the burn factor.
@IncenseDragon
@IncenseDragon 2 жыл бұрын
You can do that. I would suggest that you add half the water to your dry mix, add the EO, and then continue adding water as needed. If you add that much oil at the end of the process, the dough might be very difficult to handle and shape. Good luck!!
