I’m glad I took this third cut when I did. Two days after baling it started raining inches, stormed a lot and has been cold and cloudy since.

Thanks, I try to turn the hay around in 30 hr so it stays green. These were pegging at around 10-12% on my on-board moisture meter. The biggest problem I have is making hay that is *too* dry and will sometimes be lower than 8%, which is as low as my sensors will go. So it’s nice to get 10-12%. I had another 7 acres I could have baled to get a little more hay but just don’t feel like it. That 488 does purr along and it’s a perfect machine. I normally will cut at 5 mph with it but if I slow down to 4 it will make a much cleaner, shorter cut. I just hate mowing slow. I need to put new knives on it as well. These ones have been on there probably 4 seasons at least. They’re overserrated so are shelf sharpening and don’t need changed out as much, but new knives would probably help with a cleaner cut. I’d like to have a discbine like yours. I don’t need conditioning since I’m just doing grass. First cut it would be nice.

This is orchard and Kentucky bluegrass.

It handles it easily. The 488 only requires 25 PTO horsepower and the 4610 has plenty of lugging weight and power as well.
