No, coated tumblers are basically stripped of their coating revealing the metal. Only plain stainless requires marking spray. If you want black on coated tumblers, that would be a process.

I have really been struggling with the darkness on my stainless tumblers. I opted to use black laser metal spray from brilliance. I have ordered the Cermark thinking maybe that is the issue. As I was watching the video when you started the reclamation of the tumbler with the sander, it appears that you aren’t using hear protection of any sort. Hearing loss is cumulative, especially at the higher freqs. and volume as recorded on the video. As one who is now paying the price for years of thinking brief exposure isn’t much to worry about, I won’t even let contractors work without adequate protection.

if you don't put a sealer on the stainless steel after sanding it back, it will have rust spots. by sanding you removed the coating that is on stainless steel.
@TheClackShack
@TheClackShack 2 жыл бұрын
Guess I am lucky. It hasn’t rusted after a couple months. I must say that as a child,my dad built stainless steel whiskey stills. We never coated them with anything after welding or grinding them. 30 years later and they still look like new. It is my understanding that as long as the alloy contains more than 10.5 percent chromium, the reaction between the chromium and oxygen will reform the rust barrier.
@TheFeist77
@TheFeist77 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheClackShack I must have removed more on mine when I sanded. I don't know how thick the coating on stainless is, I may just need to be more careful on how much I remove, also the one that rusted on me was etched with a fiber laser, so that might be the difference.
