If you have to leave the light in the frame, put the camera on a tripod, take a frame of the scene without the light, then place the light and take your shot. Make these two layers in PS and mask out the stand.

That’s another great technique! Try out that new generative Ai too…it’s out of control how easy it is to remove things now. If you haven’t played with it, I highly recommend it

How about high speed sync?
@TNKPhoto
@TNKPhoto Жыл бұрын
Got you covered on that too kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aslnes5ltZaRZ40.html High speed sync is great, but we only use it for certain situations where we went to blur out the background because it does kill your flash’s intensity, as well as recycling speed. The video above explains a little bit more

1/1 is pretty taxing on the AD200. Also, some cameras will misfire when trying to sync at 1/250 due to Godox's limitation of about 1/160.

Thank you for watching! Absolutely, that’s why I mentioned pause between pops so you don’t burn it out. This is not something we’d continually keep doing all day. Only for specific few shots. And that must be a camera to camera situation. With the Sony and Nikons we’ve used we’ve have no issues with misfiring due to shutter speed. I know with canon back in the day the shutter could only do 1/160 if I remember correctly and it wouldn’t go past that with a flash.

@@TNKPhoto I've had misfires with Nikon's. I'm on the Z6 atm and it prefers 1/160 to eliminate Godox misfires. Glad to hear you're relatively issue free :)

Oh you know what dude we haven’t played with the mirrorless Nikon system as much. You might be on to something. Have you checked on forums if they’ve said anything on that?

@@TNKPhoto Yes, many of the Godox users will suggest 1/160. I still had to reduce the sync on my D cameras. The D7100 can do 1/320, but Godox isn't happy with that. I can keep it at 1/200

I'm just learning lighting and surprised you could get that result with the AD200. If you were using the AD600 instead, would you have placed the flash further away from the subject? I'm doing my first indoor shoot with lighting next month... Christmas sessions. I'm pretty sure I'm going to purchase the AD600 next week and an umbrella and hoping to be able to do the sessions with just one light.

I usually do a lot of beach shoots with my AD600 because it will not over heat. I use it with the extended head which make sit a bit easier but still a pain to carry. My main concern with the AD200 is over heating. I used it once and it was the afternoon and it overheated within 15 mins of use at full power. Have you had that issue with yours?
@TNKPhoto
@TNKPhoto Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching Alberto 🙏 honestly since we never go too hard on the 200, it’s never really been an issue. It’s maybe overheated once. If you’re shooting in full power consistently, then yeah I think the bigger units with fans might be a better way to go

Yeah, it’s definitely way easier to remove things nowadays. Still, we try to get it in camera if possible to minimize editing time as much as possible. Thank you for watching

Could you share the info about your tripod setup? It looks super convenient.

Absolutely Adam. It's a simple light stand I've had for like 12 years. I believe it's Bogen which was bought by Manfrotto if I remember correct, but any medium-duty light stand will do. Some Manfrotto ones now are way too big so I stuck with this older one. The attachment grip is MagMod MagGrip which is really great and has an umbrella holding hole. I hope that helps

I’m not a huge fan of using them for the most part but it’s definitely an option. I just don’t like having to take them on and off throughout the day

I mean sure if you want everything in focus. You aren’t doing this at f/8 or less at midday.
@TNKPhoto
@TNKPhoto Жыл бұрын
Correct. Or you can use high speed sync and shoot at whichever f stop you want. You have to just make sure the flash is close enough due to power loss and recycling time but it’s still 100% doable. Thanks for the view

But... you *didn't* overpower the sun? You're not even one stop underexposed on your ambient which is not how anyone would describe overpowering the sun. This is the dictionary definition of fill light. Well, the clickbait title got your +1 view I guess.
