You should do a mini game where your opponents pick an item in the game/mod. Then when you win an item, whatever armor or weapons crafting recipe it is apart of you can use in a battle. Example: If you win a piece of red matter you could get a red matter sword and the armor.

sigils, in fight, change your use item keybind from right click to v or soething that you dont use, and then hold it down to spam it
