Hiya, petal! My husband bought a small sheet of metal and cut it down to three sizes for my Curio, Cricut Expression and Go Press and Foil machines. Placing them on extra mats for the Cricut and Curio, I now have a designated mat for foiling! Using thin magnets like the many free fridge magnets around these days for adverts, my card and foil are both in place with no sticking worries! The metal was only a fiver and it works brilliantly with all of the machines! Ta so much for the video. I have all of those foils as well and have been using them a lot since getting the machine. Have not even opened my three foil quill colour sets yet! Take care, petal! X

FYI curl the mat away from paper, so your paper/card stock won’t curl. Also makes it easier to remove paper without accidentally ripping it. I do a lot of testing on copy paper so I don’t waste the good (& more expensive card stock and vinyl). The design you used is why it too so long and over same spot so much, from what I’ve seen We R Memory Keepers designed this for their digital and thumb drive type designs. All are icon words and line type art/ drawings. Hope this helps

Thanks Nancy it's nice that you have done all the work for us, I have Go Press machine, here in Australia we don't get a lot of choice, but it is good to know that these other brand foils will work in my machine. Hadn't heard about the Quill machine or the one for Cricut, happy what I have but good to know if foils come on sale.

Thank You! I have never commented before on craft videos since I am just getting started. But I just got the foil quill system and wanted to get some helpful tips for it. What brands of foil was one of the questions that I had had! Thank You so much for sharing this! I would love to see a video with some projects you've done using the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill system too! I am looking for inspiration on how to use it and what my first project with it should be. I am a novice crafter as I just got a cricut maker machine about a year and a half ago and finally managed to start finding enough time to start using it. I definitely plan on checking out your other videos for tips and tricks so I can start using my cricut maker machine more effectively. I tried making cards this weekend and about drove myself up the wall! Lol! I had no idea it would be so complicated! Lol! I suppose I took the easy way out and my first projects were very simple, had been vinyl, to customize school supplies for my kids last year. I would LOVE to see someone do a video on making a school planner for a high school student. Specifically, including using their Makers to make a leather/suede/faux leather cover, and then doing the inside pages. I would definitely be more than happy to pay for a multi-use pattern for the planner cover (especially if the file was a few different popular planner sizes, since I can't seem to decide what the best size would be. ) and instructions on how to assemble it (since I frankly have never been able to sew outside the basic mending that was done by hand. Though there is a sewing machine in my house my daughter got but hasn't learned how to use yet. I was always better with metal shop and wood shop type projects growing up so I am trying to get out of my comfort zone.). Anyways, sorry for the long comment! But with school starting in a few months I bet that many parents would love to see a how to build their own planners for their kiddos, so we're not just stuck with paying way more for generic one that doesnt quite fit their needs or paying for a way over priced one that can meet the needs being looked for. I will be subscribing to your channel and hope to see some projects along those lines soon. Best wishes and happy crafting!

Tip- remove your mat from your paper instead of your paper from your mat. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks so much for being so responsive to my question. I am wondering if some of the foils are thicker than others. I saw a video where the fine pen was used and tore the foil. Thanks, again! I am subscribing.

With Cricut mats, you want to use the blue mat for paper products. The green mats are more for vinyl, too sticky for paper products.

Thanks Kerstin, I'll look into it. My first try with cricut mats, & so far way better than silhouette.

Thanks for the video. I would be interested to see if you notice any difference in quality of the foiling when using your Silhouette. I use a Cricut Maker and the Glimmer foil by SBs and the WRMK foil work perfectly. The Gemini foil does not do a good job at all. It does fair with the fine quill, less with the medium and badly with the thicker quill. On the other hand, with my SNC DX the Gemini foil works great.
