Thank you for providing this tutorial. I have a Panasonic G85 and an Elgaot Cam Link 4k. However, I cannot download the software to try it because I have to input camera model and serial number and my camera is not supported. I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to have very good image quality when participating in Zoom meetings. My current webcam (Ligitech C920) is pretty good but the LED and other decorative lights I have in my studio are very over exposed and there seems to be no way of fixing that.

Hi, I previously tried to stream with my Lumix G9 + Tether & OBS. Indeed, the lag is much better with this new software, but I still have a problem with fps... How did you configure your camera and OBS to have a better result ? In my setting, I can stream in 720p 30/60 fps, but the video from my G9 appears to be with a much lower framerate, maybe 15/20 fps (moreover, I use my smartphone as an other video capture device and it have no framerate problem...). How can I do ?

hi @@ClarenceRise i do not know of anyway to adjust the framerate. i haven't seen any settings for adjust the FPS, if i found a way, I'll let you know!

I have quite a bit of lag when using my S1 with the webcam software and a service called streamyard which we use for our podcast. I use an At 2020 mic and the video lagging makes the audio out of sync with it. Any suggestions?

@@buccobruce9246 Hi Buccom Google "voicemeeter" (or similar software) which allows you to add delay to your microphone so it can sync with the webcam software video.

Hello there, I have being using it with a gh5s and a s5 for dozens of Web video calls and some of them an hour long and not a single problem at all. Super solid performance. And in terms of audio, I am using a USB microphone or just the laptop built-in mic. I am sure there are some 3.5mm to USB adaptor available in the market as well but I have not spend time look into it yet.

I haven't try discord, but maybe try something like Google Meet Video call using a Chrome browser, or Zoom and see if it works? You should use USB-USB-C or USB-C to USB-C but definitely not HDMI. And try different cable too.

I've tried 2 different usb to usb-c cables and all 3 usb ports on my laptop and eventually I'll get an error stating "an internal error occurred within the camera" using the tether app. Camera freezes and screen is still on even though it's set to off. It will only turn off when the battery is taken out.

@@TheRealRichardWong Thanks for asking. When I watched your previous video on the Lumix Tethering Software + OBS + Webcam Plugin, I thought it was interesting but too much of a round-about solution. Lumix Webcam Software is the much better solution. I don't do many video calls but when I do, it's nice to have the higher quality video option. The biggest obstacle is the relatively short G9 USB cable which is not long enough for me to connect to my desktop computer at the side of my desk and position the G9 on my desk. There is definitely lag as you had demonstrated. I don't have a second camera (well, I suppose I could try to shoot with my smartphone) to show video footage of the lag. I will need to test it with someone on the other end to see how they see the quality. I'm also interested to know if there is any video-audio sync since I am using the Webcam microphone in conjunction with the G9.

there would be some lag. Even just directly connect HDMI output to a TV you can see some lag. Just get a longer USB cable. Most high speed data cable should work fine with your G9. i basically just grab any random USB cable on my desk and they all work fine with the cameras. :)

@@TheRealRichardWong I received my 3ft USB extension cable from Amazon and now I am able to really try out things. Using the Lumix Tether program, I am able to easily adjust the various settings of my G9 and see the results in real-time, so that I can capture the settings in my C3-1 (video mode) and C3-2 (photo mode) custom dial settings. With the Lumix Tether program, I'm not seeing any significant lag - I'm sure there is lag but that all depends on the speed of the computer (assuming all USB 3.1 ports are created equal). I will do likewise observation with the Lumix Webcam Software. The bigger question with Internet transmission (for a video call session) is the degree of network latency. I'm sure everyone has seen the effects of latency where 2 people are hopeless talking over each other. In the old days of TDM transmission of voice, 50ms was the limit on latency (beyond which a 2-way real-time conversation is severely hampered). Ah, but we are in the age of free transmission of video streams over the Internet. I observed that the Lumix Tether program cannot run concurrently with the Lumix Webcam software.

Is there a similar setting for the G85 - I am using a capture card but not sure what mode to use while use the camera as a webcam.

Hi Anthony thanks! And yes you don't need any capture card like camlink 4k if you use this software solution. But if you already got one, it's still better to use it as it generally gives you less latency

Audio is still not transmit via the webcam app. So you have to probably attach the receiver of the wireless mic to your computer directly.. and if you want to record as well, then you probably can just record video internally from camera , and audio from the computer then sync them up in postprocessing. This is not exactly a replacement as the tethering app has other features,. But if you just want for web video call, this is the easiest software solution

@@TheRealRichardWong Unfortunately Skype is what TSC (The Shopping Channel in Canada) is using. I'm looking at Camlink or maybe even an ATEM Mini or Pro to give me a multi cam set up option and not depend on the Lumix software. Maybe both the Camlink and the ATEM as the ATEM sound sync tends to drift around the 50 minute mark using usb out. Running HDMI out through the Capture card then into USB is a work around. Sorry. Going through more than one issue here. Thanks for the reply.

you need to use USB because our computer doesn't take HDMI input, unless you buy a HDMI capture card. And the point of this software is allow you to just use the USB connection without buying any extra capture card . You can still output through HDMI to ninja V seperately if you want

That's exactly my question 🙋 is it possible to display a lut with this software? Can you combine it with an external monitor such as the Atomos ninja v? Are there more benefits by using an external capture device such as blackmagic ultrastudio recorder 3g?

There are some dummy battery which allows you to use external power supply when running the camera. However all the official lumix streaming software including this one doesn't support gx85

Sorry the software does not support G85, so you'll need to use a hardware solution like the Accsoon M1 that I've reviewed not too long ago, or some other HDMI capture card. That way you can also record while using as webcam

I didn't find much difference to be honest. I guess the most important one are like autofocus which I will set to face detection and even running in P mode with auto iso enabled is fine

If your side shows good quality, but other people says it's low resolution, it's very likely your internet upload bandwidth or the video software is restricting it somehow

Well computer + hardware is never really 100% plug and play unfortunately :( What is the firmware you are running on your G100? and what operation system are you running and the computer hardware? and what browser?

Glad to hear you got positive experience with the new webcam software and improved/reduced lag. I am using it everyday myself for many webcalls and results is great. Re quality settings I suspect it has no effect to the webcam software output, or at least I didn't notice any difference at all

Hi Nathan, I tried today myself and struggled immensly with the autofocus. I use a G9 with 12-35 f2.8 lens. CAF on mode 2. It hunts like hell and as soon as I move, it loses me completely. I'm at the point to give up. How did you focus?

@@jozman3502 The SOFTWARE is great. The Panasonic autofocus? Always problematic. I've used the 12-32, 14-140, 25 1.7. They all hunt if you start moving. I stop down a little to get some DoF. I make sure I have plenty of light (right next to a west facing window). If I don't have enough light, I use a 28mm manual focus Pentax and live with the restricted space.

@@nathandavis5099 I just ordered a remote shutter of Amazon. This will allow me to use half press to focus using AFS. That combined with f4 should do the trick, I hope. Very embarassing to have such a great camera that is simply unable to automatically focus. I never realized it was that bad. Seriously dents my ambition to get an S5...

What video meeting software you use? I've tried with a few popular one like Zoom, Google Meet they all work fine. And if you are using web browser based video meeting software, what web browser are you using?

I've asked Panasonic before and I was told the hardware/processor on the G80/90..etc is not powerful enough for the tethering software and i assume that's the same case for the webcam software as well. Sorry I do not know what's the official/best way to feedback to Panasonic. Probably try contact your local Panasonic support?

I downloaded the Panasonic Webcam Software, it shows up now in Zoom, but now the problem I have is the camera view is not showing in the Panasonic Tethering app, and I'm getting the Lumix screen on zoom. This is quite frustrating :/

hmm it sounds like the computer is having trouble connecting to the camera. do you use a usb dongle/hub? and try another Usb port?

yes i have the mirror/flip image option enabled in Zoom (or is it Google Meet? can't remember) What is the in-focus assistance thing you are talking about? Do you mean on the camera screen or the webcam output?

okay i found out what it is! yes it's the peaking display on the camera. If you turn it on, for some reason, it would show up on the webcam output as well. Turn it off would remove it.

Unforutunately you'll need a hardware solution.

Did you download the tether app or the webcam app? If you download the tether app, you would need OBS. But if you download webcam app then it should work

@@TheRealRichardWong OMG - I only downloaded the Tether app. I have now downloaded the Webcam app and restarted Tether but although I can now see 'LUMIX Webcam Software' as an option in Skype, when I select it I see the reversed Lumix logo as you show in your video. However, I can confirm that I have set USB to Tether and the Tether app is showing me a Live View image from my camera on my PC. Very much appreciate your advice again. Thanks again.

Latest great news - the problem was only with Skype! Zoom and Teams work fine. I can live without Skype. Hope this is useful for other users.

what are you struggling with? It should be just download the file, unzip and copy to the root of the SD card. Then put the card into the camrea and go to the firmware screen. Let me know which step doesn't work and see if i can help

It seems the driver installation wasn't successful. Did you download and install the "Lumix Webcam Software"? You'll also need to restart the computer after install

Yes correct. If you can't even see the "lumix webcam software" in the list you can select, something is wrong with the driver.. As I can see that even if I don't have any camera plugged in. What about if you try use chrome. And then launch a Google meeting with yourself and see if you can change the video /webcam to lumix webcam?

Hi Paulo thanks for watching. You cannot use the software I mentioned in this video, but there's are some cheap hdmi to usb capture card you can use instead which allows you to use your tz90 as a webcam

Lag is possible because of the software delays. But there should be no ghosting. Or is it blur? maybe your shutter speed too slow?

That's a bit weird. If it works in the lumix tethering software, your camera is good. It's either the webcam driver not installed properly or you are not using a supported browser. But chrome should work fine

@@TheRealRichardWong yes, when I do that, it asks to restart my computer, I say yes. After the restart, there's no shortcut on my desktop, nor is it in my files, only the download is in my files. Tried it again without restarting, same issue, only the download is available and it brings me back through the same repeating process over and over.

I did send my camera to an other company to do a check again for some damage, because I think there must be something wrong with the camera itself. Thanks for responding ! Do you have a USB/hdmi video capture card? The fz1000 is not supported by this software solution so you need some capture hardware for it to work with obs/streaming platform

Richard Wong yes, I do have the cam link. It worked just fine before but then it stopped working. I have to wait 2 weeks to get my camera back, I’ll keep you updated 👍🏼

Capture card would usually give you less lag and yes that means you no longer restricted by the list

@@TheRealRichardWong giving that the autofocus is trash, i would have to reach the camera to manually focus on me, so it doesnt hunt permanently, but there are no remote controls during tethering :| Also WIFI function on camera is disabled during tethering so theres no app remote control...

@@TheRealRichardWong I downloaded Kaspersky Total Security and Bitdefender Internet Security ( both trial version ) and both did not found anything on the setup package or the installed software on my C drive . Something is wrong with Malwarbytes !

Hmm m1! That maybe is the reason I wonder if the driver supports m1 yet. Maybe check the Panasonic website and see if they mention m1 support?

GH5II should work. Do you have another lumix camera to verify the software/cable are all setup properly? Otherwise try swap another cable and reinstall software? what OS do you use? if Mac, i think it may not support Ventura yet

So on the Mac side, it didn't detect it at all with Ventura after I installed Panasonic Webcam Software; on Windows it tried to detect it but I just saw the LUMIX logo on OBS. I ended up just plugging in the HDMI output to my Blackmagic device and it was perfect that way.
