Let's trap some crayfish! Join me as I use my regular traps and try a new one to catch red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii), which are invasive in my area. The traps shown in this video may be ordered from the following sites (note that I have no financial interest in either of these suppliers; I am just listing them here for your convenience):
Trapper Arne traps (I use are the "Trappy" style); made in Sweden:
www.trapperarne.com
Crayster traps; made in USA:
www.procrayster.com
Good luck!

Hi Michael, that was an awesome Crayfish catching adventure! You got some bigones! Yes indeed the Crayster traps were indeed well designed to catch the larger sized North American various Crayfish species. Mike Burrel and Team Crayster used the Scientific approach method when they designed their superb Crayfish traps which are durable, well made. Team Crayster are good people who are dedicated Crayfishers for Crayfishers. I have the Snake River Trap and it is very robust and effective. The Trapper Arne traps also look well designed and made as well. Best Wishes to You ,Safe crayfish catching adventures!

Kyle here. Can't believe it's been so long since we were trapping mudbugs together. Same spot? The formerly the day job of Mousetrap Monday spot? That big guy is huge! I need to write you a long email rather than just comment here, make it down your way, and make a better effort to stay in touch!

Hey Kyle great to hear from you! Same here: I keep meaning to get in touch but have been slow at doing that. And yep, this was at the same spot that you and I went to. Man time flies; it seems like we were just there. Keep in touch!

I just did my first crawfish video 2 weeks ago chasing the native signals with the gee's galvanized traps we did really good on a new river. Chicken wings and drum sticks for bait and now I'm using craysters bait soak solution so far doing pretty good

Cool! Glad to hear you've been catching some signal crayfish. Thanks for the information on your bait setup; I've heard good things about that Crayster soak solution.

@@WesternEclectic I could tell you why but dark meat chicken has always been my top producing baits by far for crab and crawfish. The bait soak works wonders and I modified all my cages with a bait box ( got the idea from the craysters boys) and that was single handedly the best thing I ever did my catch rate tripled, forcing them to get in the trap to get to the bait

@@BigBeavrSlayer Great advice, thanks. I just checked out your video. Great job! Nice to see you letting some of the smaller ones go. They'll get a chance to grow bigger. It's neat to see the trout in your last trap too. I've never had that happen before.

@@WesternEclectic I have caught lots of sucker fish in them, but never a trout that size that was pretty neat

Hi Michael, this was a pond near where I live in Oregon, a couple hours south of Portland. I don't like to post the exact location publicly, but if you're in the area I'd be happy to share it with you. Just shoot me an email at westerneclecticbusiness@gmail.com and I'll get back to you!
