CPI Patient Eddie Nghiem was no different. Eddie served in the Marine Corps and as a SWAT Police Officer for 15 years before suddenly began to experience a loss of motor skills in May of 2022. He thought it was a nerve condition but MRIs showed little nerve agitation and Eddie's Doctors wrote him off as being crazy.
On Christmas day of 2022 Eddie woke up nearly paralyzed and his nightmare battling his then-undiagnosed autoimmune condition had reached its peak. After rushing to the ER and undergoing a series of tests he was diagnosed with CIPD (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy), his immune system was attacking his nervous system.
Eddie's condition meant his entire life had been turned on its head. He couldn't work, couldn't dress himself in the morning, couldn't exercise... (Need we say more?)
His IVIG (Immunoglobulin) treatments showed promise in the beginning but soon proved to be an unreliable fix to his condition. His doctors wanted to add Prednisone to his medications and Eddie had herd too many horror stories to want to go down that road.
3 months ago Eddie came down to CPI to receive stem cell IV treatments in hopes of calming his autoimmune disorder and he now reports that his flare ups severely diminished. What once was a flare up every 5 weeks is now a flare up every 3 months, and the symptoms he experiences during those flare ups are no where near as sever as they once were.
