Wow!!! Thank you for making this video! its brilliant! Ive just got the bmpcc 4k (a few days ago) and I have the bmpcc OG with metabones speedbooster. Everything I've read so far suggested that it would not work and potentially damage the 4k. But thanks to your testing and video, i now have new options :)

How do you like multicam from bmpcc OG and 4k? Can you advice use them as a set with foca reducers and FF glass for great results?

So I uploaded this originally around Jan this year, but at the time I really didn't like the video at all, so I took it down within a couple of days. Like for everyone, it's been a very uncertain time & I went through a pretty severe depression for about 6 months this year. It was lots of different factors combined including COVID, but was definitely overdue generally. I just found I couldn't do any film work & obviously due to COVID most of it was canceled, but that wasn't the main factor. I felt no matter how hard I was applying myself my mind kept tripping me up. It was a really odd feeling having an intense passion and love to do something, but feeling completely debilitated when I went to do that same thing. I am incredibly lucky that in the UK I could access help through the NHS completely free of charge. Nothing will ever be perfect, but I am now feeling significantly better than what I was, my outlook and mental health are much stronger than ever before, which honestly is an incredible feeling! As my moods changed I watched this video back and saw it in a different light, I know that I would definitely approach it differently now, but I still think there's some useful information in the video for anyone looking to do the same setup. I have also now bought one of these 0.58X speed boosters, so any questions let me know and I can try and test it out my end! No Sharpening / Denoising has been applied to the clips - they have been graded and corrected but that's it. Also sorry about the varying audio quality, I had to amend some sections but I am a bit crap with audio & didn't match it too well!

This is an amazing discover! I would have never try it myself haha just too afraid of damaging the sensor. Haven't noticed really this use with the new crop modes either, thanks for sharing your video, very informative and well made. Definitely will try this combo with my old original bmpcc-nikon speedbooster next time I want to go with a lot of 120fps footage!

Glad you're feeling better bro. Depression is no joke! For me I turned to Christ, my family and exercise and got over it without any drugs thankfully but it's something I take very seriously now. All the best bro and this video was very helpful.

Thanks for sharing your struggle - I can totally relate to your creative desire vs debilitating depression as I struggle with the same! Brilliant images and so glad you kept this up. Just recently got some Cooke kinetal lenses with arri standard mount for my bmpcc4k but struggling to find an adapter to get the most use of them. Right now I’m just using the 2.6K crop and an arri s to mft adapter - any suggestions on how to get an arri S to EF adapter - seems flange distance is an issue. Would love to try this speed booster though!

How much percentage (%) do you have to ZOOM inside the frame , while using this adapter in 4K , so you can avoid vignetting ? Thank you for your truly enlightening video. It is a revelation for a Wedding Cinematographers' line of work. ❤❤❤❤

hallo, im new film making, i use metabones Nikon - BMPCC 4K 0.58x, but on BRAW 4K DCI setting, the resulting image becomes a vignette, i use full frame like sigma 35mm 1.4, nikkor 85mm 1.4 etc but still vignette. Maybe you can help me, thanks so much

Thank you for posting. I’m thinking of the 0.58x for my BMPCC4K for my vintage lenses to bring out their character (usually in the corners). How did the 0.58x work in C4K? How bad was any vignetting? Did it seem to be effected by different focal lengths or did you try that aspect that much? I might track down the 0.58x for the same reasons.. or maybe just the 0.64x. I have a Viltrox 0.71 for $100 and for $100 it’s great.. for my Lensbaby Twist 60, Velvet 85 etc it means I’m not using a telescope, just a telephoto.. but I would prefer to get it closer to a full frame crop factor to see the character in the corners.. Those and my other vintage lenses usually shoot around 2.8 to no more than 5.6. After 5.6 the character goes away...

Found 0.58 distructing - corners are absolutely unusable, esp for commersial jobs. I guess 0.64 is really enough to show corners and still have great performance of any lens that covers FF sensor. Other thing that you will not notice HUGE difference (sure subjective) - you would be able to use faster vintage lenses (still crap on f1.4 cuz of SB), no CA in contrast scenes and better sharpness on infinity using wide angle lenses. Try to rent and check your footage, GL!

Take care, mine doesn't fit. The metal mount is too tight so I cannot turn to click to mount it - so probably a mechanic will help me very carefully file away material from the lobes (locking pieces) until it fitted :(

Thanks for the message! That's really interesting, I have been doing a few tests with the 0.58X speed-booster, seeing what the maximum usable image circle is. With my Canon 0.58x, the corners always go very soft when shooting in UHD or DCI, My 0.64x has no problem at all though covering the whole sensor. Do you have the Canon or Nikon version of the 0.58x?

Thanks, I really appreciate that! Yeah me too, I remembered thinking how good the adapter was when I was using it on my original BMPCC about 5 years ago & it really works beautifully on the P4K! For this video, I just used the 2 lenses below: Sigma ART 18 - 35MM F1.8 Sigma ART 50MM F1.4 Love your channel, I really want to do some more car stuff! I used to have a 240SX, BMW E30, E34, E38 & E39 some Volvos, and a CL500 But tbh none of those were very practical for work, so I have been daily driving an old Jeep WJ now. honestly a great car for filming work and has the 4.7 V8 so pretty fun, but would love to get another decent RWD car again!

David Morgan Jones thanks for getting back to me, I love cars and everything about them. I’m doing a pretty unusual swap to my 2015 Subaru WRX in going to put in a 1JZ and rwd swap it. I will start recording the whole process pretty soon. V8 Jeep sounds cool for sure. I gotta tell you your color grading is next level.

I wonder how the .58 speedbooster compares to the .64 speedbooster. I am a bit confused too, as to the numbering of the speed boosters. Why is it the .64 provides more field of view and closer to full frame than the .71 but the .58 is lesser than the .71, can you help make sense of this for me ?
@_shreyash_anand
@_shreyash_anand 3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't. He's only used the 0.58x on the Super 16 crop. If you use the full frame, it will have a wider field of view than 0.64x. It will actually have a crop of 1.1, as the Pocket 4K has a native crop of 1.9. So basically, full frame. The a7Siii has a 1.1 crop when in its active stabilisation mode.
