popular & puzzling - Dr Linda How does the trivium method of critical thinking "Gene odening " helped share fit in with ,Dr Paul &the foundation's ? Has anyone tried to merge them ?
@CriticalThinkingOrg
@CriticalThinkingOrg 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! The Trivium education model is based in ancient philosophy, and though there is much overlap between our approach to critical thinking and certain concepts in Trivium, there are also some conceptual problems with the latter. A framework for critical thinking based in natural language and everyday life provides a more helpful approach for dealing with the complex, often mundane problems we face as humans. If you're curious to learn more, you might consider exploring the many resources found at our subscription website, the Center for Critical Thinking Community Online. There is a 30-day free trial available with no obligation to continue the subscription afterwards. Thank you again, and best wishes.

You mentioned in your book , that there are 8 types of thinking 🤔. Are there more types , more than eight??
@CriticalThinkingOrg
@CriticalThinkingOrg 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! You may be referring to the eight elements of thought: purposes, questions, points of view, information, inferences, concepts, assumptions, and implications. Rather than being types of thinking, these are the "building blocks" of thought. There are not others.

How do we tie critical thinking to business strategic thinking Thanks.
@CriticalThinkingOrg
@CriticalThinkingOrg 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! The foundations of critical thinking - e.g. the Elements of Thought, Intellectual Standards, Intellectual Traits, etc. - apply to all domains of human work and life. Internalizing these concepts allows you to apply them to novel situations in business, learning, personal life, and so on. There is a book by Drs. Paul and Elder that contextualizes critical thinking for business, titled, "Critical Thinking: Tools for Taking Charge of Your Professional and Personal Life" (Rowman & Littlefield). You may find this useful, as it applies critical thinking to professional life in a more explicit manner.
