Using Titebond II wood glue to Veneer my speaker cabinets

I've veneered two speaker cabinets with the methods outlined in this video and have been very happy with the results. It should be noted I allowed both the veneer and substrate (speaker cabinet) to sit in the same room for a few months so their moisture levels were even.
The key components to success are the right glue, a smooth substrate and a dry iron.

A cool trick i learned for putting down just enough glue is by using an old fine tooth hacksaw blade as a glue spreader. When done properly, it spreads the glue into tiny lines, which in my case are 24 per inch.

I've found its best to put a strip of green masking tape along where the bearing would touch to ensure it doesn't mar the veneer. Plus it keeps the router blade just the tiniest bit further from the edge, which you can do the final edge using a bit of sandpaper. You can also use blue painters tape if you don't have the green stuff.... Just don't use the beige colored tape since it will likely leave glue residue.

You can test for bubbles or unglued veneer by tapping it on top like a piano player and listening for a hollow sound.

It looks great, i did something similar but used siberian oak, but i don't really like how they came out, i like your veneer, is it cherry veneer?

Thank you. This was paper backed walnut veneer. It was the best value I could source. The end result is neat but if I had my time over I think I would have gone for something lighter. These have a bit of a 70s vibe

@@stephenjlr that what i was trying to do, a little bit of vintage look on my new speakers, how i said i ordered european oak, but didn't received in good time, so i got a replacement of siberian oak, which has a white texture, i bought 3 types of briwax, dark oak, spanish mahogany and teak, none of them seems to work, it came sort of cream colour, it could be better, it just missing that shine, luckily, i just tried, it could be sanded off, and i will try something else like wood dye or stain

Wichtig ist noch den Leim lange genug antrocknen zu lassen. 10-40 min. Alle 5 min testen. Und das Bügeleisen auf wolle stellen. 👍👍🇩🇪

You said you used paperback veneer? Did you glue the paper side, if yes did you prep the paper before applying glue?

Hi, does this gluing process hold? I don't know i feel like it wont hold much is it?

So far it hasn't lifted. Just make sure there are no pockets or areas that have not adhered like I demonstrate in the video.
