In this talk, Wesley shares details on understanding how cancer works in order to develop new treatments and better practices. What is immunotherapy and could it open the door to treating aggressive and difficult to treat cancers? Could our own immune systems hold the clue for defeating these diseases? Wes is a Canadian cancer researcher working on developing new therapies and cancer treatments. He had the opportunity to work and study around the globe in 5 countries. His previous work has led to the understanding of gene expression changes as cancer progresses in brain tumours, the discovery of new pathways involved in the tumorigenesis of breast cancer, and development of new strategies in radiotherapy treatment.
He also has a long history in the technology sector and serves as CTO of two medical technology companies in North America. He has received engineering and innovation awards for his work in health tech from Waterloo, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Microsoft, and Intel. He continues to work on machine learning algorithms to produce new tools for the future of medicine.
Wes currently lives in Perth, Western Australia, where he works at The University of Western Australia and Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I found out that I had lymphoma cancer this last October. Then after my 1st round of chemo I had a blood bacteria too. I had to survive my blood bacteria before I could survive my cancer. I survived both of them, I'm cancer free, and done with my chemo.

I was diagnosed with triple positive BC in 2016 and am alive and well doing holistic approach. Lifestyle changes. Vegan. Stress management. Daily exercise. Meditationa and prayer. First two years went 90% raw and juiced a lot. Almost 7 years later I am thriving and haven't skipped a beat. For those who want a holistic or combo research Square One/Chris Wark and do your research. Lifestyle matters and is probably what gave you cancer to begin with. God bless.

After telling my two doctors for a year to check me for cancer it runs through my family, he kept assuring me I didn’t. Diagnosed at the emergency room a week ago with pancreatic cancer. Now trying to find ways to prolong my life. B/P went down after fasting. Gave up sugar. Already losing weight from not being able to eat. The changes made already have me feeling a little better. Sugar is a killer.

I can relate with you. The uneducated college degreed idiots in Ft Worthless texas told me people under 50 don't get cancer. This nonsense is what I was told even after they knew cancer runs in the family. The real reason people die premature deaths is because of incompetent doctors that intentionally delay evaluation, testing, diagnosis and treatment. They know early detection is key but they don't even follow intervention protocol let alone prevention. The reason people die is not because of the type of cancer. That is propaganda. The true reason is because doctors delay and the condition advances and by the time they do their job it's usually too late but some people beat the odds of both the disease AND the incompetence of the amERRORican healthcare system. What state do you live in ?

The ultimate cures have been already discovers and practices years ago! There are 20+ super natural cures that destroy this man made in a lab called "Cancer"! Many have been baned and made "illegal" to obtain! One of these powerful cancer destroyers was "Marijuana" and all crooked governments knew its power to cure any cancer internally and externally and made it into an illegal drug when in reality its a medicine that 100% cures! Marijuana had more than 5000 uses and products made from it in the early 1900"s but factories saw it as a threat and were going to go bankrupt and had to stop it from being grown in masses after the government made a law that farmer must grow hundreds of acres of it. When you transform marijuana into pure Hot press Hemp Oil with the THC in it, that right there is the 100% cure for any mutating cell causing cancer ever made! Hot press Hemp Oil and powerful Vitamin B17 and you put all these quack docs out of business!

Chemo does help certain cancers as does Radiotherapy. It's that or nothing, & they were going to have me on both Chemo & Radiotherapy, but decided that it would be too much for me to cope with with. So they stuck with Radiotherapy, 30 daily sessions. 4 weeks to go but it doesn't stop there, carries on for mnths untill all the affects of the radiation wears off. Gotta believe in something. Chemo does brake cancer down as does radiation therapy. Who wants to be radiated daily? Not me but I am doing & it's gotta give me some hope. I believe them as they'd not put me through this for nothing. I'm still frightened.

Lifestyle, bad diet, negative emoting, purposelessness, unhealed emotional hurt, not enough rest or too much rest, bad digestion, lack of detoxification well all this you can gain control over. Interesting. About half of the cases in "Spontaneous regression of cancer: preliminary report", 1956 had a operative trauma (some sort of surgery of the day), from Efforts to explain spontaneous regression of cancer, 1981. I just looked up how much blood is lost during surgeries. Seems to be on the order of 0.5-1.5 liter now, probably on the higher end almost a century ago. So what about blood donations? Donation frequency, iron loss, and risk of cancer among blood donors, 2008: ..However, between the lowest (< or = median, < 0.75 g) and highest (> 90th percentile, > 2.7 g) categories of estimated iron loss, there was a trend (P(trend) < .001) of decreasing risk for cancers of the liver, lung, colon, stomach, and esophagus, which are thought to be promoted by iron overload (combined odds ratio [OR] = 0.70, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.58 to 0.84), but only among men and only with a latency of 3-7 years [Note: I.e. they didn't like the result]. The risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma was higher among frequent plasma donors (> 25 vs 0 donations, OR = 2.14, 95% CI = 1.22 to 3.74) [I note: NHL is a blood cancer, not tumor cancer, and 25 donations is a bit extreme]

What has helped me overcome the illness? Apricot kernels, prayer, and, when I was well enough, exercise, plenty of daily exercise. Also, sugar should be avoided because it is thought to feed cancer cells. Avoid packaged foods. Eat fresh vegetables and fruits. Never smoke or drink alcohol. How you cure cancer depends on what caused it. Unresolved physical, mental or environmental stress seem to be the main causes. If you remove the root cause you cure the cancer.

@@c.k.7361 You may need help finding the root cause. From my research, it appears that all chronic degenerative diseases result from unresolved stress (physical, mental and/or environmental) which adversely affect the body chemistry, resulting in the symptoms of disease. If you cannot resolve the root cause, you can adapt by making informed health choices. - Best wishes

Is it possible that the " Gut Theory " foods that we ingest or not could contribute to our immune system ? For example,eating beef that eat toxic grass, pesticides, and rushed to the market with antibiotics ,consumed by those who eat this beef contribute to our immune system ? If so, what about other foods ? What other ways would you suggest contribute to a WEAK immune system ? Also,how could our genetic makeup be improved to strengthen our immune system ? Thank you.

Rather confusing talk. "Chemotherapy agents have a hard time crossing the blood-brain barrier and the handful that do have been ineffective against this treatment." Huh? We want chemotherapy agents to be effective against cancer, not treatment. "Surgery is often ineffective against certain brain tumors due to their location in the brain, making them inoperable." Again, huh? I don't think this man knows what "inoperable" means. He is using the word inoperable to refer to a tumor. But what is an operable tumor and what is an inoperable tumor? An operable tumor is one that contains cancer cells that divide. It is operating as a tumor. An inoperable tumor is one that contains cancer cells that are being killed off by a human's immune system. It is not operating as a tumor and is being dismembered. "Could the immune system be used to fight cancer?" is a ridiculous question. Everyone knows the answer. It is self-evident. Cancer cells form, and divide, forming more cancer cells, in everyone, all the time. If your doctor has not found any cancerous tumors in you, that is because you immune system had been successfully fighting cancer.

Yes absolutely irrefutably true. Spot on 👍. Everyone has cancer cells at some point but the Immune system is what keeps cancer in check which explains why some people never develop the condition and also explains why some people die and some don't. Doctors are fractional when it comes to your immune system.
@soilmanted
@soilmanted 2 жыл бұрын
@@pabloblanco2656 Difference in people's immune syste explains why some people get cancerous tumors and some don't, and why some people die from tumors, esp metastatic tumors, and some don't. But it really explains nothing, because for the mot part, we don't know what those differences are. We don't know why some immune systems are better at marking cancer cells for death and eating cancer cells alive, than other immune systems.

@@soilmanted Yes true but the good news is that it's getting narrowed down. Most people are not aware but the cure for cancer was developed in Germany around 2014 - 2016. I can't remember the exact year but at any rate Germany offered to sell it to the united states because the united states has the highest cancer rates in the world but the united states refused the offer. Germany tried to sell direct to clinics and the united states gov blocked it from being imported into the united states.
