After being a tennis fan for over a decade now, this is the first time I witness a legendary player retiring from the sport and made a huge impact on me. When Henin, Sharapova, Clijsters retired, I felt sad because they've been amazing players but I'm sadder seeing Serena finally hanging up her rackets. Now I must prepare for my all-time favorite Roger Federer retiring anytime soon. Roger and Serena are my all-time favorite players. I was lucky enough seeing Serena in Doha in 2013.

Thanks Serena ❤️ Happy tears😭😭😭 Ever since I started enjoying tennis, playing tennis as a kid, you've always given me strength along the way.💪 Whether it is the perseverance on the field, not giving up until the last moment, or the courage to reverse the opponent You have not only inspired us, you have also empowered us to understand the definition of "persistence". 27 years!!! Thank you for being with us for 27 years❤️ Many people can't reach the pinnacle of life at this age, but you have created countless legendary moments and won countless championships.🏆 There are always ups and downs in our life, Your legendary career has also brought us to witness the fall from the peak to the bottom, and from the bottom to reach the championship again. As long as the game is not over, there is still hope for a comeback victory! Life is the same. As long as you are still alive, you will have the opportunity to create miracles, and you must not give up easily! What makes your career great is not only that you have created various tennis records, won the most championships or world number one But you continue to inspire us❤️ You let everyone know: No matter what your background, no matter what you've been through, as long as you don't give up, you can keep going. You may gain something in the process, or because your spirit has inspired someone or changed something, But as long as there is hope, anything can happen. Because 41 years ago, no one would have believed that two little girls from the slums could write a brilliant record and inspire many people 41 years later. "Never give up 'cause you never know what can happen-you never know who you can inspire and who you can influence." Thanks Serena Williams ❤️ Wish you all the best. Thank you for everything you bring to us. And for sure LOVE Venues too❤️ Thanks for you 2 GOAT LEGEND QUEEN SERENA 🏆

I must admit that I cried watching this. I started to play tennis a bit late, at 19 yo. By then, Serena was just a teenager with brace on her teeth and those beads. She was still under the shadows of Venus, who already had established herself as a huge name in tennis. At that time, people, including myself, only knew her as "the little sister of Venus Williams". And I still remember reading the Tennis magazine in which Richard Williams said, "Serena will be even better than Venus". After watching her playing against Hingis, I never doubt she will be. She already had the complete skills: serves, ferocious forehand and backhand, excellent net game, superior athleticism and footworks, and of course, the legendary mental toughness. No reason to doubt her father prediction. And I grew up (tennis wise) watching Serena, Venus, Roger play, trying to emulate their techniques (without prevail, of course, LOL). I follow their careers for years, for every single grand slam milestone they achieved. And here she is, blossoming the be Greatest Tennis Player. Watching the greatness from the beginning to the end is great experience. And now she (and Venus) retire from tennis, I already miss them so much. We sometimes easily take something for granted, only to realize how precious its existence. Watching Serena playing tennis is a sight to behold, and she had entertained us for thousands of times. And now you can only watch her playing professional tennis on recording. You can always buy tennis tournament tickets, but you will never be able to see Serena Williams plays live in front you again. 🥲

Definitely THE GOAT.

She didn’t show grace when she threatened to shove a ball down a lines woman’s throat or when she ruined the atmosphere when Osaka won her first major. She’s an amazing tennis player, but if you want to see grace you need to look to Roger or Rafa.

She only would have left on her terms if she had won at least slam #24. But so her return after giving birth must be seen as a failure.

A lot of great players have retired previously, but she is absolutely in a total different class. Nobody's statistics compare with hers, including all great male players. I wish her well

You said her statistics are the best, including men. That does not matter. By the estimate of John McEnroe, there are currently about 700 men who could beat her. Against Djokavitz, she could not even complete a match, much less win.
@tomr6955
@tomr6955 Жыл бұрын
@@steveborst5386 at least 700, in her prime. Right now probably top 3,000 men would beat her, top 1,000 would wipe her off the court.
