I have mix feelings about working for USPS I am supposed to be a Full-time RCA. Took me about 14 years (on and off again) to get hired on with USPS. BEFORE TRAINING: I turned down a Full-time job to work for USPS Full-time at 30.50 per hour. Driving a LLV. AFTER/DURING TRAINING: To many red flags. 1st 8+ hours was off clock. Ended spending 1,300+ out of pocket for training (out of town). After training, was told I would have to spend 50,000+ on a suitable delivery vehicle. Pay was cut down 19.94 per hour. Cut my hours to Part-time at only working every other Saturday. Working as a ARC instead of RCA. All of that just happened to me this past week. I just finished Job Shadowing my trainer. My take home pay after Union Dues, insurance, and taxes is going to be 0. Yes, they still want me to spend 50,000+ on a suitable delivery vehicle. I felt like the catfished or bait and switch me. It has happened 10+ times since 2003. With all of that being said. If they didn't bait and switch me. It would had been a great opportunity for me.

I hear you. I really really wanted to leave my current job and work for the Post office. But they couldn't commit to a full-time shift, for the RCA, which is what I wanted. I should have done more research before going full speed on this thing but that's on me. Hence the video I would like anyone wondering about it to know my experiences anyways. I don't account it to a waste of time, I learned a lot. Got to be a postman even if it was for a short time. I really wanted to do this 20 years ago, but the problem was the same then. Looking back I should have pulled the trigger then and I'd be almost retired now LOL good luck to you in your future endeavors!😎👍

It likes like your scanner is the same that Amazon Drivers use, which at Amazon, the scanner is called a Rabbit. ... This job seems a lot like that of an Amazon (DSP) Driver (due to drivers are not really working for the Amazon company), the difference is that Amazon has 4 to 6 cameras equipped on their Vans to watch their Drivers.

Another reviewer video mentioned that you have to drive your own personal vehicle after the training/probationary period. Is this the case, if you had remained on the job?
@OmegaOrdained
@OmegaOrdained Жыл бұрын
I was told there are very rare times where you might need to use your own vehicle. However nobody told me they ever had to do that. And I wasn't there very long so I'm not sure. Also this is in california, the rules might be different in other states. But I was told if you did have to use your own vehicle, from the training people. You would be reimbursed mileage and gas, and they paid well apparently

How many packages would you deliver on average for each shift? I used to deliver for Amazon and they had us deliver anywhere between 140-200+ packages during a 10 hour shift. Might apply for this position as I’m in college and just need a part time job for now, and it’s only weekends, sounds perfect for me so I can schedule my classes easier during the week
@OmegaOrdained
@OmegaOrdained 3 ай бұрын
Well I only worked on Saturdays and there was a range. It's been a couple of years now, if I remember right it was anywhere from 80 to 100 packages . I do remember there were a few days where it was considerably less. Like 40 packages? Most times it would take about 4 hours to complete. But I did have a couple of 8-hour days. I was told during the holidays, you work a lot more, way more packages, and you work more days. Oh you have to work holidays as well. So sometimes it would be working Friday and Saturday. Hope this helps good luck to you! It was a lot of fun and a great part-time job

@@OmegaOrdained thanks! I have another question, are the deliveries pretty far apart? When I was at Amazon, our deliveries were pretty close to each other as we would deliver to suburbs a lot and not rural areas as much
@OmegaOrdained
@OmegaOrdained 3 ай бұрын
@@kingdoge69 sometimes my deliveries would be miles apart. The post office splits that into City carrier and Rural carrier, Arc is a rural carrier, and you'll be delivering to parts of your town you've never been. You may want to apply for assistant City carrier. They get a lot of apartment buildings and stuff, one stop a lot of times I believe the workloads about the same ,but it might be more I'm not sure.😎👍

@@OmegaOrdained cool thanks for the info, one more question if you don’t mind lol do you load your own delivery truck?
@OmegaOrdained
@OmegaOrdained 3 ай бұрын
@kingdoge69 yes you do load your own truck. And I liked that part. I see first you have to separate out your route packages, once they're separated out and that takes 30 minutes to an hour, sometimes they are separated out for you. Then you push the basket thing with all the packages in it to your truck. You load your truck kind of in reverse starting from the back, so you know where you put all of your packages. It's a good system. I like it.😎👍

I am not sure for the arc position. But it sounds like you want a RCA, I believe it's rural carrier assistant. They work a lot more hours. And I believe any day of the week. You use a GPS device from the usps. They sit on a charger overnight. You can tell when you get it if the batteries are low, and grab another one. On this shift, it was only one day a week, or more if there was a holiday. I would start at 10:00 a.m, get the packages for my route, get the llv loaded by about 11:30 or noon. Usually have the packages done by 4:00 or so. However every time was different. It depends on how many packages you have and where they go. So I would say 4 to 8 hours per shift, and if someone was taking too long or had too many packages, you could go help them do their route as well.
