USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) Flight Deck Activity | Life Aboard Aircraft Carrier - Gerald R. Ford class (or Ford class; previously known as CVN-21 class) is a class of aircraft carrier being built to replace USS Enterprise (CVN-65) and eventually the United States Navy's existing Nimitz-class carriers, beginning with the delivery of USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78). The new vessels have a hull similar to the Nimitz carriers, but introduce technologies since developed such as the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System, as well as other design features intended to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs, including sailing with smaller crews

Those are F/A-18 E/F Super Hornets with one of them being the EA-18 G Growler which is an electronic attack variant of the Super Hornet.. All in all currently the best massively produced carrier based fighter attack jets. At least until the F-35C 5th gen stealth jets are produced in larger quantity and start replacing the older F-18s. In the near future carrier deck will have around 50% of the F-18s and 50% of the F-35Cs on board. Of course that is only the fighter jets. There are more different platforms on board carriers, from the carrier on delivery or COD, which will be performed by the V-22 Ospreys, to the Advanced Hawkeye aircraft that is also called "the eyes of the fleet". This aircraft is permanently in the air massively extending the range at which the Carrier strike group can detect possible threats. There is one interesting jet that will soon be introduced on the flight decks of the US aircraft carriers, and that is the MQ-25 Stingray, which is an unmanned UAV tanker that will extend the range of the fighter jets. Somewhere in the beginning of the 2030s we can expect to see a completely new fighter bomber entering the fleet. This aircraft, which is in the beginning stages of development, will eventually replace the Super Hornet. This aircraft will probably also be an UAV, so no pilot inside, or at least optionally manned for the hardest missions. This so called 6th gen aircraft will have incredible technologies that would seem like SF to us today. But it's only in 10-15 years..

@@markbrisec3972 .,. Don't be surprised if autonomous fighters are outlawed, or limited by the Geneva Convention. I hope at least those that can break the sound barrier. It's good that the cost of war is so terrible, otherwise governments would enter it more frequently. AI must have restrictions in the business of war.

8:42 That's interesting. That I believe is the Army variant of the Blackhawk helicopter. The Navy's variant, the Seahawk, has the rear landing wheel more in the center of the aircraft under the engine. The Army's variant kept the rear wheel way in the back on the tail structure right before the rear rotors. I didn't know the Navy also flew the Army's version as well.

Hi every one ,.Im Zhamil from Singapore,.. im a Fan of Us Carriers since 80's when i was age of 10. Love the New carriers with high technologies,...but i really missed the Aircrafts,..it fun to see different aircraft doing their own role mission instead,.Multi-role on the same plane 'Super Hornet' Growler ( still Hornet). I missed A7 -Cousair, A-6 Intruder,S-3 viking, F-4 Phantom,.mostly one of my Most favourite oF All Time,.Mr F-14 Tomcat,."King of the Sky", Hope they can bring back Tomcat from the dead,,.like refurbishing on Stealthly Mode, upgrade the engine F404 Whitney & Pratt and so on. I begging on this F-14 to raise back. Without F-14 TOmcat ,..it's like,..a not completed Carrier on Deck on the Carrier. Sob,..sob. My Fav. is USS ENTERPRISE,.Very huge and Unique. By looking from far,..the ISLAND can tell its,.ENTERPRISE. ( ever built a model 1/350 scale, 1/800), Uss Nimitz and their sisters ship classes,,.Eisenhower, Carl Vision. Midway,.Kitty Hawk, (1/800 scale) All US Aircraft Carrier,. Cousairs, Intruder,.Prowler , Phantom,.Sky Worrier, Vigilante, Awacs, Crusader, Sky hawk( 1/72 scales) as F-14 (1/72 & 1/32),.Missed all of it

It's getting better, but still not meeting launch speed promises. Downtime is still too high as well. But, they're working on the problems. Meanwhile the Kennedy (79), is structurally complete, floating, yet waiting with the same problems. The Ford is the test vehicle, so to say.

It looks like it's trying to get people to click on the link to their off Facebook page by using a photoshopped photo. However when the link is clicked that thumbnail is not shown on the external link. LOL!

tripleheshy thanks lol, it’s because I’m wondering how they’d launch them in a real mission, seeing they can carry 90 aircraft on paper but never when launching. Makes sense tho, they can just get the extras on there from the lifts when it’s time.

psychon4vt.... Great question.... The carrier has 5to 6 helos CODsRADAR PLANES TOTALING 10... IF THE CARRIER IS LAUNCHING EVERYTHING THAT FLIES THEY CAN LAUNCH EVERY 80 PLANES IN ABOUT 45 MINUTES. each squadron has a plane or two refered as HANGAR QUEENS. I CAN TELL YOU A LOT....
