“Freshly baked hulls” that makes sense because you need to heat treat the entire ship so it shapes correctly

The Montana class was never made. It was supposed to succeed the Iowa class, but the increasing power of aircraft carriers and the age of the battleships coming to an end, they never even laid down their keels before the cancellation. Some of the main differences from the Iowa class is that it would be slightly larger, have a fourth turret, (supposedly) have an upgraded barrel, better radar and fire control, more armor, more AA, and instead of the 5"/38 caliber dual purpose gun used widley through out the Navy, it would have 5"/54 caliber barrel only used on some destroyers and the Midway class Aircraft Carrier. And I just geeked out right there...
