I could help you with the proper spoting for the aircraft on the flight deck. The 22 on spot 2 should not be rotated fwd like that (some one would be killed) there would never be a spinning 22 on the port side in the "fwd slash". The first Cobra is too close to the front of the Island (need space for forklifts to transport bombs from the back of the island. there is a CH46 parked way too close to the island fouling the deck next to spot 6 (53 on spot 7 would never be turning with that there). As for the aft slash, you should spot it like this...53, 53, then the last 5 AV8Bs in sequence at a slight angle with the nose angled to the aft (we do that for better taxi for a shooter). Over all just beautiful!

When you work with your strip lighting, can you adapt multiple light strips to one power cord to be able to get the effects of different nt lighting in different areas of the ship at one time?. Such is night operations, green in the welldeck, red in forward vehicle storage which is in front of the well deck and then yellow in the hangar bay.

When I was in the Marine Corps and part of an Expeditionary Unit we were assigned to the USS Iwo Jima an amphibious carrier the only problem is with yours is that you shows it has way too much rust the Navy would not allow it to get that rusted they would have the Naval personnel scrape and paint the ship but overall did a nice job

Thanks Marc, if the only problem with this model is that it has too much rust, I'm taking that as a positive. I was using the real Wasp being in Sydney harbour earlier this year as my references and that looked pretty rusty to me! But there is always artistic licence to consider too I guess.

Trust me, Marine, this is a very acceptable amount of rust. I am currently on the Wasp and we are "once over dust, twice over rust" painting it.

I was ships company on Iwo Jima, 2000-2006; it is actually more realistic than you might think.

@@JJModelMaking I'm watching your videos because I'm interested in buying one of these models and putting it together, as I am stationed on Wasp! Loved visiting your country during operation talisman sabre 2019, easily the BEST port that Wasp ever brought me to. You are absolutely correct about the rust, we looked like a bag of ass, being forward deployed and flagship of our group, we didn't often have time to paint. Later that year we were visited by the POTUS and we spent almost 2 weeks straight painting to get ready for it! My only issue with this model is the version of Wasp it is representing. On the top of the aft mast, that bar radar is the MK-23 TAS. The current Wasp has replaced that with the SPQ-9B radar. Being one of the radar technicians on the ship, I just know its going to bother me every time I look at it if I were to paint her to look like the Wasp that I know, but see the equipment of a previous version.

One thing I see everyone do with these kits deals with the LCAC'S or Hovercraft as some call them. The deck load limit on an LCAC is 60 ton which is equivalent to 1 M1A1 Abrahm tank. If they load. An Abrahms, they cannot carry anything else, they are maxed out.

I’m looking across the harbor at LHD-4 right now, and your weathering is spot on for one of these big boys after a deployment. What would really set it off is the lights that surround the Hull number on either side of the island. I’ve seen your videos of model lighting and that would be amazing. Great work.

@@JJModelMaking 14 August has come and went when when Pakistan got independence from UK so why do not you do something special and make a Hawker Tempest Mk 2 which was the first fighter of the country. Love from Pakistan.

A LCAC can only carry ONE M1 Abrams. Two would probably sink it. But, a fantastic diorama overall. thanks for sharing.

@@JJModelMaking Hi JJ, thanks for the reply. I see you fixed the hangar bay doors on the Enterprise. Also please note that the hangar bay openings are more inset than what you show. Along the sides of the hull are various shops, passageways and ladders. I purchased the hangar bay details from Shapeways (Baconfist) for my Tamiya CVN65 1/350. That cost about half of what I paid for the model! I was an ETN2 (Electronics Technician, 2nd Class (N = communication)), also was trained to be a Nuclear Reactor Operator. NPTU was at the A1W (Enterprise) prototype in Idaho. I was on the USS Truxtun CGN35. I was assigned to the #2 engine room. We had 2 D2G reactors. I got out of nuclear power and spent the remainder of my 6 year obligation on the Ranger (CV61). I spent a lot of time on Vulture’s row watching flight ops and taking pictures when I could.

Excellent job. I was on the Forward deployed uss essex lhd 2. The rust is spot on. I stumbled across this looking for a wasp anphib model. Did it come with lcac and lcu?

Hey JJ I wondering something. So you build your ships by putting the parts together and painting it and doing a process but my question is there anywhere that I can pick up a model of an aircraft carrier like The hornet or Yorktown pre assembled so it may not has as much detail as your ships but I don’t have to put the parts together and do the process you do? Trying to buy one as a gift
